Description
Position Summary:
Constructs and installs fixtures, repairs and adjusts production equipment, and assures optimum equipment operation. Monitors routine preventative maintenance and maintains equipment logbook and spare parts inventory. Responsible for the continual and trouble-free operation of all production equipment in order to maximize the efficiency of production at Tapecon by performing the following duties personally or through assistant personnel. Maintains and supports general facility infrastructure and mechanical systems, including air quality, plumbing, and electrical systems.
Essential Functions:
- Where ISO procedures are inaccurate, work with supervision and engineering to facilitate document changes
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on all manufacturing equipment and mechanical systems
- Observe machinery in operation to identify causes of malfunction
- Dismantle equipment to access and remove defective components
- Adjust mechanical devices and control instruments
- Install structural and functional parts on machinery
- Operate and test equipment to verify performance
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems to minimize downtime
- Perform root-cause analysis and recommend corrective actions
- Maintain Tapecon’s mechanical systems (i.e., air quality, plumbing, electrical)
- Coordinate repair contractors when necessary
- Helps coordinate in-house construction projects with appropriate personnel
- Train machine operators in the proper daily, weekly or monthly maintenance of their equipment as needed
- Maintains accurate maintenance records
- Operates equipment and machinery to test their performance.
- Submits purchase order requests for parts, materials, and equipment.
- Coordinates Tapecon’s preventative maintenance program
- Assist other maintenance mechanics, engineers and operators on projects and major repairs as needed
- Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED): or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information to one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to manufacture, modify, and repair precision components and tooling to tight tolerances
- Experience interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Familiar with drilling, tapping, boring, grinding, and other machining operations
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate work
- Experience operating manual and/or CNC lathes, mills, drill presses, and other precision machining equipment
- Ability to fabricate, repair, and modify machine parts, tooling, fixtures, and components as needed to support production and maintenance activities
- Computer skills highly preferred
- Team oriented and able to work well with others
- Good communication skills/interpersonal skills
- Forklift experience desirable
- Organizational skills
Key Performance Indicators
- On time equipment installs, maintenance and repairs
- Timely completion of contractor repairs and construction projects
- Record keeping for equipment breakdown/inventory records are accurate and complete
- Training completed or provided on time

The employee is required to regularly reach with arms and hands; use hands to handle, finger or feel objects, tools or controls. Hands and fingers may frequently perform repetitive motion. Occasionally the employee will use arms and hands to balance and climb. The employee is required to regularly operate tools, maintenance equipment and machinery. Employee will occasionally need to perform work on ladders/scaffolding.
Employee will occasionally be exposed to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards. Limited outdoor work is required but may occasionally be exposed to all types of weather and temperature extremes.
The employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Lift assists are available for use on all heavy lifts that may be required. This job requires close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Employee is required to regularly talk and hear.
Total compensation:
The base pay range below reflects the potential hourly compensation for this position. Compensation will vary based on factors including experience.
