    Black & McDonald’s Southern Ontario Utilities team is growing! If you are an independent, enthusiastic, and driven professional searching for an opportunity to build a solid foundation for your career, this position is for you. The Project Coordinator is located on site and typically reports directly to the Project Manager.

    Project Coordinators assist the Project Manager with planning, coordinating, executing, monitoring, and evaluating assigned project(s) from start to finish in accordance with schedule, specifications, and budget. Their primary focus is safety, planning, monitoring progress, scheduling, quality, cost management, estimating, reporting, and managing project changes under the direction of the Project Manager. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, willing to learn, and comfortable taking ownership of assigned tasks while working closely with both project management and field teams.

    Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Assist the Project Manager with project planning, scheduling, cost control, and overall project execution
    • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including RFI’s, submittals, change documentation, meeting minutes, progress reports, and correspondence
    • Review drawings and specifications and complete quantity take-offs and field verification as required
    • Track project quantities, installed work, as-builts, and progress for billing purposes
    • Assist with project cost tracking, forecasting, budget analysis, and change management
    • Coordinate material procurement, deliveries, subcontractors, and suppliers
    • Assist with preparation and tracking of purchase orders and subcontract agreements
    • Coordinate with field supervision to identify upcoming material, schedules, and resource requirements
    • Assist with construction schedules, look-ahead schedules, and milestone tracking
    • Support monthly billing, cost reporting, and project forecasting
    • Maintain organized project records and document control
    • Attend site meetings and assist with coordination between clients, consultants, subcontractors, and field staff
    • Support project closeout, deficiencies, as-built documentation, and turnover packages

    WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT

    • Degree or Diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or Electrical Engineering
    • 1-3 years of Project Coordination experience within the construction industry is preferred
    • Experience working on utility, transportation, or MTO projects is considered an asset

    The successful candidate should demonstrate:

    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
    • Basic understanding of construction project coordination, scheduling, and cost control
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines
    • Strong attention to detail and document management skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook
    • Experience with JD Edwards or an Oracle based ERP system is considered an asset
    • Ability and willingness to work in both office and active construction-site environments
    • Valid Ontario “G” Driver's Licence

    The expected salary range for this role is between $52,000 - $85,000 per year. The starting salary will be determined based on several factors such as the successful candidate’s qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Base pay is one component of Black & McDonald’s total rewards package. Total rewards vary by position and may include additional offerings such as group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual discretionary bonus, career development programs, and other HR programs.
