Job Title: Operations EHS Lead

Location: Bangalore, India

Hours: 4 days a week or as mandated by the company

Reports To: Direct report to Sr. Director Global EHS & Facilities

Role Overview and Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will apply developed subject matter expertise to resolve unique and moderately complex EHS implementation issues within established processes, recommending suitable solutions or alternative methods to ensure compliance.
  • The India Operations EHS Lead will provide EHS oversight on operational activities, facilitate EHS decision-making in support of stakeholders, and support global initiatives including audits and evaluations as needed. Independence is required, with minimal day-to-day supervision, yet the ability to seek guidance for more complex decisions. Travel may be required.
  • This team member will assist EHS Operations for the Global Innovation Centre (GIC), Product Manufacturing, Project Delivery & Services, and Test
    Lab management in India.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining occupational EHS policies and programs for India EHS Operations, GIC, and associated regional stakeholders to foster a global and equitable EHS culture within the business.
  • Acting as a EHS advisor to the GIC and India test lab.
  • Assisting in maintaining and conducting integrity checks on the Fluence India online EHS database for safety walks, inspections, stop work authority, incidents, training courses, and performing trend analysis on safety metrics.
  • Developing and implementing Fluence India EHS policy, programs, and technical documents to ensure compliance with Fluence global EHS policy and Indian regulatory requirements.
  • Assisting in developing training curriculum and conducting sessions to educate employees on safe and compliant work practices.
  • Leading and/or participating in GIC and regional site-related EHS operations, including inspections and audits.
  • Conducting audits, inspections and evaluations at GIC office, test lab, and regional project and manufacturing sites.
  • Leading, coordinating, and participating in RCA investigations of incidents, maintaining records, recommending corrective actions, and compiling analysis reports.
  • Assisting and participating in corporate internal and external certification and recertification audits.
  • Representing GIC on the EHS & Social Performance Team Committee and participating in monthly meetings.
  • Managing and closing out EHS-related corrective actions and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Delivering GIC-focused EHS training.
  • Assisting at a corporate enterprise level with various assigned tasks.

  • Handles multiple priorities, frequently interpreting programs and procedures.
  • Interprets, explains, advises, and makes recommendations on moderately
  • complex issues to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates strong team and leadership skills, mentoring, coaching, andbuilding relationships internally and externally.
  • Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with customers.
  • Shows original and innovative thinking in achieving results and recommending process improvements.
  • Analyzes technical and regulatory information to make sound judgments and provide prudent recommendations.
  • Makes decisions using general methods and procedures, requiring frequent interpretation of programs and processes.
  • Conducts predictive trend analysis to determine corrective and preventative actions.
  • Thorough knowledge in environmental, health and safety regulations.
  • Proficient with computer-based EHS Management platforms and applications such as Microsoft 360, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong compliance knowledge in high-risk activities, including working at heights, lifting and rigging, electrical safety, lockout/tagout, arc flash hazard analysis, hazardous materials, risk assessment, work permitting, emergency preparedness, ergonomics, and general safe work practices.
  • Strong knowledge of Indian national and regional EHS regulation andcompliance requirements.

The minimum job qualifications for candidates include:

  • At least 10 years of work experience in high-risk industry.
  • Minimum 3 years of EHS Management experience in a field setting.
  • Global and/or regional EHS management oversight experience is considered a plus.
  • A degree in occupational safety or equivalent fields.
  • Recognized safety certification, such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent, is considered a strong plus.
  • A proven track record of sustained implementation and overall management
  • responsibility of statutory requirements mandated by relevant local and Central Government ministries and other local statutory bodies.
  • Must be able to travel as required for global/regional business, approximately 5% annually (passport required).
