Senior Commercial Finance Analyst

What's the role?

Reporting to the Snr Commercial Finance Manager, the Snr Commercial Finance Analyst for Technology, Digital and Data (TDD) plays a crucial role in shaping the financial narrative of News Corp Australia. In this position, you will conduct in-depth analyses of business performance trends and key drivers, explain variances against budget and forecast, and effectively communicate insights to the TDD Leadership team.

Your core focus will be managing the overall cost base, conducting strategic performance analysis, and leading cost-improvement initiatives. Additionally, you will oversee project progress and support strategic decision-making to ensure financial activities align with the organisation's broader strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

• Support strategic decisions by providing business partnering support, developing business cases, and conducting complex ad-hoc reporting and analysis.

• Monitor project performance with strategic goals, track capital expenditure, and analyse non-financial metrics, competitor results and macroeconomic factors to anticipate performance trends.

• Oversee the month-end and support the forecast and budgeting processes, including Salaries & Wages, vacancy targeting, and the capitalisation of time spent on projects.

• Lead initiatives for continuous cost improvement to enhance profitability, and review processes for efficiencies by streamlining reporting and implementing new capabilities.

• Support the Procurement team on structuring contract renewals and provide comprehensive analysis on P&L impacts.

• Oversee, guide, and review the performance of offshore team members to ensure the smooth delivery of core financial outcomes, including base monthly reporting, vendor cost management, and budget maintenance.

Who are you?

• You hold a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, and possess a required CA or CPA qualification.

• You bring 5+ years of experience in a similar role or field, with preferred experience in Technology cost management, contract outcomes, and preparing business cases.

• You have commercial and technical expertise in budgeting and forecasting with hands-on experience using financial systems like Planning & Analytics (Tm1), JDE and BI tools.

• You are a strong communicator, capable of translating complex financial data into actionable insights for leadership and non-financial stakeholders.

• You are a strategic and analytical problem-solver, having a proactive focus on identifying cost-saving opportunities and driving continuous process improvements.

• You are a natural collaborator who can build strong working relationships with offshore contributors as well as working seamlessly across a complex, global setting.
