Radar Engineer/Analyst, Mid-Level

This role will join a well-established team in an AVMC lab that supports the development, test, and fielding of missile defense radar systems.

 

 

Responsibilities

Common tasks for this position include analysis tool design and development, and complex analysis on radar system and/or algorithm performance.

 

Provide expertise on various aspects of critical radar functions including acquisition, scheduling, tracking, discrimination, advanced functions, and system-level interactions.

 

Investigate issues, perform root cause analysis, and develop creative solutions to complex technical problems.

 

Support a broad range of projects including performance analysis, modeling & simulation (M&S), post-flight reconstruction, and integration and risk reduction efforts.

 

Interact with external customers and stakeholders within the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), program offices, and radar development prime contractors.

 

Up to 10% travel may be required.

 

Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications & Education Requirements and Desired Skillsets

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Math, or Computer Science from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.

 

5+ years of experience with sensor and/or system-level data analysis.

 

Proficient in data manipulation and analysis, data visualization, signal and data processing, electromagnetics, and/or system engineering using MATLAB, Python, and/or similar tools.

 

Ability to develop and/or contribute to reports and briefings that explain complex radar behaviors effectively to a broad range of audiences.

 

Experience developing and/or improving complex analysis tools using MATLAB.

 

Experience in radar analysis, radar systems engineering, and/or radar test and evaluation.

 

Ability to multi-task and work effectively across multiple efforts.

 

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

 

Experience with AN/TPY-2 TM.

 

Experience with radar signal detection/injection HWIL systems.

 

Experience in C, C++, and Ada programming, Linux/Unix operating systems, Microsoft Office.

 

U.S. Citizenship with an active Secret security clearance and the ability to maintain the designated clearance level.

 

 

Physical Description

Employees in these positions will function primarily at customer sites, field locations, and test ranges, with periodic work in office and laboratory settings. They will use standard office equipment, computers, hand tools, and electronic test equipment to set up, operate, maintain, and repair fielded systems. They will collaborate with customers, operators, maintainers, and internal engineering teams, produce service and status reports, and communicate information effectively.

 

These positions require frequent travel, potentially including extended deployments to remote or austere locations, and may involve working outdoors for full days in varying weather conditions. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and protective footwear may be required. Employees must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to support fielded system availability.
