Overview
Night shift Hostler Backup/Utility - Wednesday off Hostler - Night Shift - 712 warehouse (4 10-hour shifts) 6:30pm -5:00am - Wednesday off
About the Position
Using a yard tractor, the hostler moves both loaded and unloaded trailers of different sizes and configurations in the loading area and between distribution centers. The Hostler also performs other duties within the distribution center on an as needed basis.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
- Respond to all questions and requests politely and promptly.
- Work as a team with Equipment Operators, Lead Equipment Operators, Drivers, Distribution Center Supervisors, Shift Operations Managers, and the Distribution Center Manager to complete daily work assignments.
- Operate all equipment in a safe, efficient, and reasonable manner.
- Move all company and outside carrier trailers quickly and safely using a yard tractor.
- Process orders and paperwork quickly, safely, and accurately.
- Ensure all incoming/outgoing freight is accurately received/picked and placed in its proper staging area.
- Keep the distribution center neat, clean, and orderly at all times.
- Perform all pre-shift inspections of equipment and report any problems or malfunctions of equipment to immediate supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
Selection:
Selection: Open positions will be awarded to the most qualified candidate based on job performance, experience, and ability. If two or more candidates are equally qualified, length of service will be used as the final factor in the selection process.
