If you're passionate about innovation, technology, and growth, we invite you to be part of DayOne’s next chapter.
Job Summary
The Data Center Extremely Low Voltage (ELV) Design Manager is responsible for leading the ELV design of mission-critical data center projects across Europe, including ICT infrastructure, structured cabling, fiber networks, security systems, BMS/BA interfaces, communications, and related low-voltage building technology systems.
This role ensures ELV systems are reliable, scalable, maintainable, secure, well integrated with the wider data center infrastructure, and aligned with project and operational requirements. The ELV Design Manager works closely with internal teams, local consultants, contractors, vendors, security stakeholders, IT/network teams, authorities, and operations stakeholders to deliver coordinated, compliant, and high-quality design solutions.
The role is key to ensuring DayOne’s ELV infrastructure meets company standards, applicable European and local regulations, authority requirements, industry best practices, and end-user expectations.
Key Responsibilities
ELV Design Oversight: Lead and manage the overall ELV design process for data center projects, covering ICT, structured cabling, fiber infrastructure, telecom rooms, security systems, BMS/BA interfaces, and other low-voltage building technology systems.
Connectivity Infrastructure: Oversee backbone and horizontal cabling, containment, pathways, racks, patching infrastructure, cross-connect areas, and coordination with network architecture requirements.
Security Systems: Lead the design coordination of physical security systems, including access control, video surveillance, perimeter security, alarms, security control rooms, and associated monitoring systems.
Multidisciplinary Coordination: Coordinate ELV design interfaces with electrical, mechanical, architectural, civil, structural, fire protection, IT/network, security, operations, consultants, contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance to ensure ELV solutions are reliable, scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with project and operational requirements.
Design Review and Quality Assurance: Review drawings, specifications, schematics, system architecture diagrams, technical proposals, and design documentation to verify completeness, coordination, technical accuracy, and constructability.
Standards and Compliance: Ensure ELV, BMS, and BA designs align with DayOne internal standards, industry standards, local regulations, authority requirements, project requirements, and end-user requirements.
Vendor and Supplier Coordination: Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to review ELV equipment, systems, materials, and technologies against project needs, technical requirements, and lifecycle expectations.
Risk and Issue Resolution: Identify risks, resolve technical issues, and support decisions related to design coordination, installation, testing, commissioning, handover, and operational readiness.
Commissioning and Handover Support: Support testing, commissioning, as-built validation, documentation review, and handover for ELV, ICT, security, BMS, and BA systems
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, ICT Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
Experience: Minimum 8–10 years of experience in ELV, ICT, security, BMS/BA, or low-voltage infrastructure design, preferably for data centers or other mission-critical environments.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of data center ELV systems, including structured cabling, fiber networks, ICT infrastructure, security systems, access control, CCTV, BMS/BA interfaces, and related building technology systems.
Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer, BICSI, RCDD, or equivalent professional certification is preferred.
Knowledge: Good knowledge of relevant ELV, ICT, security, BMS/BA, and data center standards, including internal standards, industry standards, local regulations, authority requirements, and end-user requirements.
Design Management: Experience coordinating complex design workstreams with consultants, contractors, vendors, internal teams, and project stakeholders, with strong organizational and leadership skills.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are required; proficiency in a second European language is preferred.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify risks, resolve technical issues, and support design, coordination, commissioning, and handover activities.
