Job Description
The Director of Hospital-Based Services is responsible for the strategic direction, operational performance, and financial management of assigned hospital-based service departments. This position leads multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient, high-quality services while advancing organizational goals related to quality, patient experience, workforce engagement, and financial stewardship.
The Director collaborates across clinical and operational areas to drive standardization, optimize workflows, implement strategic initiatives, and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements. Through effective leadership and data-driven decision-making, the Director promotes operational excellence and continuous improvement across assigned areas.
Essential Responsibilities:
Leadership & Operations
- Direct the operations of assigned hospital-based service departments to achieve organizational, operational, quality, and patient experience goals.
- Lead managers, coordinators, and professional staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Establish departmental priorities, performance expectations, and operational standards.
- Develop and maintain departmental policies and procedures.
- Develop, implement, and monitor operational and strategic initiatives aligned with organizational objectives.
- Direct departmental operating and capital budgets, ensuring responsible fiscal management and resource utilization.
- Analyze operational and financial performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Lead implementation of projects that enhance efficiency, productivity, and service delivery.
- Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to standardize workflows, optimize processes, and improve patient outcomes.
- Utilize performance data to drive operational decisions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
- Serve as the primary liaison between assigned departments and executive leadership.
- Partner with physicians, nursing leadership, finance, human resources, and support services to achieve operational goals.
- Build strong relationships across the organization to facilitate effective communication and change management.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or a related field required.
- Master's degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), or related field preferred.
Experience
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible healthcare operational experience.
- Minimum two (2) years of management experience.
