Job Description:
Senior Project Manager - Landscape Architecture
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to step into a leadership role where your experience as a project manager can have an even greater impact — on complex projects, clients, teams, and the future of our practice.
As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll lead high-profile planning and design projects from strategy through delivery while helping shape how our teams work, how we serve our clients, and how we grow the business. You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside talented planners and landscape architects, mentor emerging leaders, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to winning the next generation of work.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being both a strategic leader and a hands-on project expert — someone who can see the big picture, inspire a team, build trust with clients, and bring ideas to life.
You’ll have a visible role in putting Excellence in Action into practice, helping define what great leadership looks like in the planning and design space and creating an environment where people and projects can thrive.
What You’ll Do
Lead complex planning and design projects, providing strategic direction from project initiation through successful delivery.
Supervise and support teams of planners and landscape architects, creating clarity around priorities, expectations, accountability, and performance.
Guide other project leads, sharing your expertise and helping strengthen project management and leadership capabilities across the team.
Maintain hands-on involvement in key projects and client relationships while empowering others to lead.
Build and strengthen trusted relationships with clients, understanding their goals and delivering solutions that exceed expectations.
Balance client needs, project quality, schedules, budgets, and internal priorities to drive strong project performance.
Bring strategic thinking to project and business decisions, identifying opportunities to expand client relationships and pursue new work.
Contribute to business development through proposals, presentations, interviews, networking, and relationship building.
Help identify and pursue new opportunities that align with our capabilities, clients, and strategic direction.
Mentor and develop the next generation of planners, designers, and project leaders, creating opportunities for others to grow.
Model Excellence in Action through thoughtful leadership, collaboration, accountability, and a commitment to delivering exceptional work.
Partner with leadership to strengthen our practice, improve how we deliver projects, and foster a culture where people can do their best work.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role means more than delivering great projects. You’ll be building something bigger — stronger teams, deeper client relationships, better leaders, and new opportunities for the business.
You’ll be recognized as someone who can be trusted with complex projects and important client relationships, while also developing others and contributing to the continued growth of the practice.
This is a chance to expand your influence, take on greater strategic responsibility, and help shape the future of planning and design.
What You Bring
8+ years of project management experience in planning, landscape architecture, design, or a related field.
Demonstrated success leading complex projects and larger, multidisciplinary teams.
Strong client relationship and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and navigate competing priorities.
Experience mentoring, coaching, or developing other project managers and design professionals.
Ability to think strategically while remaining engaged in the details that drive project success.
Experience contributing to business development, including proposals, presentations, interviews, networking, and/or client relationship development.
Strong understanding of project delivery, financial performance, schedules, and team management.
A leadership mindset grounded in collaboration, accountability, and a commitment to excellence.
