Description
This role assists in the delivery of the O'Brate Gymnastics Center programs for children and youth and is responsible for creating a safe, fun, and inclusive learning environment while teaching basic to intermediate gymnastics skills, supporting participant development, and ensuring program safety standards are followed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Teach and demonstrate gymnastics skills appropriate to participant's age and ability levels.
- Lead classes, assist with setup/takedown of equipment, and help maintain a safe environment.
- Provide positive encouragement, instruction and feedback to participants.
- Monitor participants while performing on various apparatuses to ensure safety and proper technique.
- Support program staff with class management, participant registration and communication with parents/guardians.
- Report accidents, injuries or equipment concerns to the Recreation Supervisor.
- Maintain a professional an positive relationship between the program and the community.
- Previous experience in gymnastics as a coach, aide or participant is preferred.
- Experience working with children in a recreational or instructional setting is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of gymnastics fundamentals, safety practices, and age-appropriate skill development.
- Ability to teach, motivate and supervise children in a group setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children, parents and coworkers.
- Ability to enforce rules and maintain discipline in a positive manner.
