The Transportation Research at McGill (TRAM) research group, located within McGill University’s School of Urban Planning, invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher. The postdoctoral researcher will report to lab director and principal investigator Prof. Ahmed El-Geneidy. The incumbent will contribute to a CIHR project seeking to measure the impacts of the new Réseau express métropolitain (REM) light rail system in Montreal. The postdoctoral researcher will be leading research on a key theme of the project, concerning the intersection of health and transport as it relates to the REM.
Among other things, the incumbent will help lead efforts to design and manage online surveys,
data collection, analysis, and coordinate with partner organizations. The incumbent will be
working with Montreal Mobility survey data.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will participate in all activities related to the project. These may consist of, among other things:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Planning and executing research activities including
- literature reviews
- the development of subsequent waves of the Montreal mobility Survey (MMS)
- data analysis on health and transportation in relation to the REM project
- assistance in the training and supervision of student researchers studying similar topics
- Preparing academic publications and research reports including
- Annual reports on the progression of research on the REM
- Regularly published articles related to the impacts of the REM
- Organizing meetings, training sessions, and public seminars for project stakeholders
Education and Experience:
The successful candidate must possess:
- PhD awarded in the past 5 years in a related field such as urban planning, engineering, geography, epidemiology or biostatistics, with a strong interest in transportation.
- Demonstrated experience in grant and report writing.
- Demonstrated experience in quantitative data analysis with a publication record.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing other Canadian public transport projects.
- Proficiency in discrete choice and behavioral statistical modelling using R.
- Proficiency in microsimulation and agent-based modeling.
- Excellent written and oral communication in English.
- Excellent personal time management, project management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated capability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Understanding and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Term: one year, commencing October 1st, 2026
Salary: $67,000 / year + benefits
