The Patient Observer position is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a hospital environment, work alongside experienced healthcare professionals, and build valuable patient care experience. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Patient Observer provides constant observation and support to patients who have been identified as a potential risk to themselves or others. The Patient Observer assists with patient-related tasks based on individual needs while maintaining patient confidentiality and following hospital policies and procedures.

Essential Functions
Maintain constant observation of assigned patient(s).
Monitor patients for changes in behavior or condition and promptly communicate concerns to the RN.
Document care and observations as required.
Receive and provide detailed handoff information regarding the patient and their status.
Assist patients with feeding as directed by the RN.
Assist in the event of a patient fall according to hospital procedures.
Maintain patient safety, privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.


 

Qualifications

Education High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Experience some healthcare experience 0-1 year preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Ability to remain alert for extended periods of time. - Ability to verbally calm patients. - Ability to perform calmly and quickly in stressful situations. - Ability to read, write and speak English clearly.
