Onondaga Community College, located in Syracuse, NY is currently recruiting for Internship Coordinator and Career Specialist

 

The Internship Coordinator and Career Specialist is responsible for developing, expanding, and managing high-quality internship and experiential learning opportunities that connect students with employers and workforce partners. This position serves as a liaison between the institution, employer partners, and students to increase access to meaningful work-based learning experiences that support career readiness and regional workforce development. The Internship Coordinator and Career Specialist provides individualized guidance to students throughout the internship process, including assistance with internship searches, application materials, interview preparation, and professional development to help them successfully secure and complete experiential learning opportunities. The position also supports student engagement through career-related programming, employer events, and ongoing coaching to foster career readiness and workplace success. 

 

This is a temporary, grant-funded position contingent upon the availability of grant funding. 

 

Responsibilities

• Develop and expand internship and experiential learning opportunities through partnerships with employers, community organizations, and industry leaders.  
• Promote internship opportunities and engage students in local internships and experiential learning experiences, including opportunities with NY CREATES.  
• Advise and coach students throughout the internship process by assisting with internship searches, resumes, cover letters, applications, interview preparation, and professional development.  
• Support internship-related events, including career fairs, employer information sessions, networking events, and workshops.  
• Collaborate with faculty and employer partners to support student career readiness and experiential learning.  
• Monitor internship placements, maintain employer and student relationships, and assess program outcomes through data collection, reporting, and participant feedback.  
• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports to support grant requirements and measure program effectiveness.  
• Represent the institution at employer, community, and workforce development events.  
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

USD $55,000.00/Yr.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college, university or foreign equivalency in a field appropriate to the position.   
• Three (3) years of experience in one or more of the following areas preferably in higher education: career exploration, experiential education, career services, career or occupational counseling, internship or work-based learning coordination, or workforce development. 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Strong relationship-building, communication, organizational, and project management skills. 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database or CRM systems. 
• Ability to collect, analyze, and report program data; experience with grant-funded programs. 
• Knowledge of career development practices and regional workforce needs. 
• Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and other languages will be considered. 

Employment Status 

• This is a temporary, grant-funded position. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of grant funding and program needs. 

Additional Information:

• Salary range is: $44,000 - $55,000, commensurate with credentials and relevant experience.
