$128,800.00-$161,000.00The Director of Clinical Operations is the operational steward of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology's six strategic pillars. Every priority, initiative, and accountability within this role is anchored to Patient Access, Patient Experience, Quality & Safety, Operational Excellence, and Staff & Provider wellness.
The Director of Clinical Operations (DCO) is a senior clinical and administrative leader responsible for the comprehensive operational oversight of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Montefiore Health System. The DCO provides direct leadership to all Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs), and exercises operational authority over all nursing support services through the direct management of the
Assistant Director of Nursing including RN's, LPNs and PCT's. Working in close partnership with the Division Directors, CDA's and Director of Finance & Operations, the DCO drives a high-performing, patient-centered care environment rooted in clinical excellence, data-informed decision-making, and continuous improvement. This leader champions the expansion and sustainability of signature programs — including the Pregnancy Home Initiative — and ensures the department maintains the highest standards of regulatory compliance, accreditation, and certification, including The Joint Commission and all specialty-specific quality designations
Job Responsibilities
Lead the design, implementation, and governance of standardized clinical and administrative workflows across all OB/GYN practice sites and care settings
Oversee end-to-end panel management for all NPs and CNMs, ensuring appropriate panel size, patient attribution, and balanced caseloads that maximize access while protecting care quality and provider sustainability
Monitor and act upon patient experience data (Press Ganey, CAHPS, and internal surveys) to drive sustained improvement in satisfaction scores
Ensure care coordination workflows are seamless across the prenatal-to-postpartum and gynecologic care
continuum, minimizing fragmentation and communication gaps
Serve as the departmental operational leader for all regulatory, accreditation, and certification activities
Create structured recognition, career development, and retention programs that reinforce a sense of purpose and belonging for all departmental staff
Serve as the operational lead for the Pregnancy Home Initiative and other signature departmental programs — driving program fidelity, expansion, outcome measurement, and sustainability
Identify opportunities to develop and launch new service lines, care models, and programs in collaboration with physician and APP leadership that address unmet patient needs and advance Montefiore's OB/GYN
Define, track, and report a comprehensive set of departmental KPIs aligned to the six strategic pillars, including clinical quality, access, productivity, experience, and financial performance
Recruit, onboard, and retain high-performing NPs, CNMs, and nursing leaders; build a diverse, mission aligned workforce
Lead, coach, and develop the Assistant Director of Nursing to ensure strong operational oversight of nursing support staff across all sites
Education
Bachelors degree in Nursing Required; Masters degree in Nursing preferred
7-9 years clinical experience in OBGYN Required
4-6 years leadership experience preferred
New York State License as a Registered Nurse Required
BLS Required
