MercyOne Air Med is seeking an experienced Flight Nurse to provide lifesaving critical care to acutely ill and injured patients across all age groups in air medical, emergency, and critical care settings. This role combines advanced clinical practice, teamwork, and aviation medicine in a fast-paced environment where every minute matters.
What You'll Do
- Provide advanced critical care during air and ground transports
- Assess, stabilize, and treat critically ill or injured patients
- Collaborate with physicians, EMS agencies, hospitals, and specialty transport teams
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care to patients and families
- Maintain transport equipment, supplies, and medications
- Promote safety in and around aircraft operations
- Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new team members and students
- Participate in quality improvement and educational initiatives
Required Experience
- 3+ years of RN experience in Emergency, Critical Care, or Flight Nursing
OR
- 3+ years as a Flight Paramedic plus 1 year of Emergency/Critical Care RN experience and 1,800 RN hours
Licensure & Certifications
- Current Iowa RN license (or Iowa/Illinois RN license for applicable MercyOne Genesis locations)
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS required at hire
- NRP required within 3 months
- Trauma certification (TNCC, ATLS, ATCN, TPATC, TNATC, or equivalent) within 6 months
- CEN, CCRN, CFRN, or CTRN certification within 2 years
