About the Role
At Northwestern Mutual, we're reimagining how post-approval and policy servicing capabilities support the future of the Risk Product and Service experience. As we continue to modernize our technology ecosystem, the Post Approval domain plays a critical role in supporting the application, underwriting and issue value chain through a portfolio of foundational business capabilities and legacy components. As a Technical Business Analyst III supporting the Post Approval domain, you will help drive the discovery, planning, and delivery of initiatives that advance NM's modernization strategy while ensuring the stability, compliance and effectiveness of critical business operations. In this role, you will partner closely with product managers, engineers and subject matter experts to analyze complex business processes, define requirements, improve delivery readiness, and support strategic roadmap execution. You will contribute to transformational efforts while also helping the team respond effectively to operational needs and ongoing delivery commitments. Success in this role requires a blend of business and technical acumen, strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to build trusted relationships that create alignment, drive clarity, and deliver meaningful outcomes across the enterprise.
What You'll Do
Business Expertise: Use knowledge and experience to provide some expertise in at least one business area or domain while working to gain a broader understanding of business and domains surrounding the main focus. Articulate recommendations based on analytics and collaborate with Product Manager.
Current State, Future State and Gap Analysis: Begin to assess, exercise judgement, and document current state across moderately complex processes and business areas and domains while partnering with Product Manager and peers. Use analytics and experience to resolve issues and to provide solutions.
Gather Requirements: Responsible for fact-based requirement gathering and be able to analyze across business domains.
Author User Stories and/or Features: Author user stories and/or features independently with medium complexity while participating and collaborating in some higher complexity situations. Support and provide thoughts and ideas throughout the development process as needs arise.
Test Plan/Results Review: Coordinate and review test plans and scenarios for medium-complexity efforts, validate testing coverage and results against business requirements, and provide sign-off on testing outcomes for medium and large efforts.
Project Management: Use project management skills to successfully complete and advance work.
What You'll bring to the Role
Bachelor's degree.
2-4 Years Prior Experience with at least 2 working in a Business Analyst level role.
Ability to leverage strong communication skills and relationships to influence outcomes while navigating conflict and decision making.
Deep familiarity of agile & scrum development environments.
Solves moderately complex problems; analyzes and recommends possible solutions using experience, evaluation, judgment and precedents.
