Purpose of the role

  • Collaboration with cross-functional product & coverage teams to structure financial solutions tailored to meet the unique needs of clients' projects, including determining the optimal mix of debt and equity financing and identifying potential sources of funding.
  • Oversight of complex financial models to evaluate project feasibility, cash flows, and return on investment, analyzing and stress-testing financial projections to assess project viability.
  • Conducting comprehensive risk assessments associated with the project and proposing risk mitigation strategies and alternative solutions.
  • Assessment of the creditworthiness of project sponsors, stakeholders, and counterparties involved in the project finance transactions.
  • Development and maintenance of strong relationships with clients, understanding their goals and objectives and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project finance lifecycle.

Accountabilities

  • Development and maintenance of strong relationships with corporate, financial and institutional clients to understand their financing needs and objectives.  .
  • Development and maintenance of complex financial models to assess the value of assets, companies, or securities and identify the most appropriate structuring of capital raising initiatives, including equity financing via an initial public offerings, investment grade debt underwriting, leveraged financing solutions for non-investment grade clients, or derivative hedging solutions.  .
  • Collaboration with Coverage, M&A, Syndicate, Global Markets, and cross functional teams to ensure successful origination, company due diligence, and execution of various capital market transactions.  .
  • Identification, assessment, and management of risks associated with capital markets transactions and development of risk mitigation strategies in alignment with regulatory requirements.  .
  • Research, financial data analysis and continued development of market insights and investment recommendations.  .

  • To provide significant input to function wide strategic initiatives. Contribute to and influence policy and procedures for the function and plan, manage and consult on multiple complex and critical strategic projects, which may be business wide..

  • Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
  • Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately.
  • Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence.
  • Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives.
  • Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives.
  • Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations.
  • Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area.
  • Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
  • Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/ businesses divisions.
  • Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.

Join us as a Director within our Project Finance team in Investment Banking, an established franchise in growth mode, focused on delivering innovative financing solutions across the infrastructure and energy ecosystem. The team structures complex non- and limited-recourse financing transactions, supporting clients throughout the entire transaction lifecycle from origination and credit assessment through to execution and closing and collaborating with colleagues on any refinancing strategies.

  • Domain expertise within UK and European Project, Energy, Infrastructure & Acquisition Finance, Infrastructure Advisory or Leveraged Finance markets.
  • Experience originating, assessing, structuring, and executing asset - & cash flow-based lending transactions, generating substantial transaction revenue
  • Proven track record evaluating project risks, construction risks, cost overruns, risk allocation frameworks, and financing mitigants, as well as managing full transaction lifecycle
  • Ability to manage multiple live transactions and competing priorities in a dynamic front-office environment, whilst developing team members and being seen as a model of best practice behaviour
  • Literacy both in capital market refinancing routes, including rating agency methodologies, and other ancillary products, such as rates & FX
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across complex transaction teams.
  • Positive references from decision-making and dal-leading counterparts at our client base of financial sponsors, pension funds, utilities, strategics and related platforms

This role is based in London.
