What you will have an opportunity to do:

The Assistant Director of Accounting, Transitions & New Development is a key leadership role within the hotel transitions team responsible for organizing, managing, and tracking accounting-related transition needs for hotel properties passing through Pyramid’s transition and new development processes. This position reports to the Transition and New Development Department while being based in Pyramid’s Central Accounting Office and partnering closely with the CAO team to ensure accounting processes, systems, banking requirements, reporting standards, and training activities are completed accurately, timely, and in alignment with company standards, hotel management agreements, loan documents, USALI, and GAAP.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key transition leader responsible for managing, organizing, and tracking accounting-related transition requirements for hotel transitions and new development projects.
  • Participate in the due diligence process for transitioning properties to identify property setup requirements across all accounting functions and ensure transition needs are addressed in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Identify and communicate required hotel bank accounts and merchant IDs to the PGH Treasury team, supporting timely setup or transition in compliance with hotel management agreements and loan documents.
  • Manage the import, conversion, and mapping of historical financial information into Pyramid systems and the company chart of accounts.
  • Lead income journal mapping for newly transitioned hotels to ensure reporting aligns with USALI and GAAP standards.
  • Develop and maintain the post-transition property training calendar while also delivering (through remote and select on-site sessions) and ensuring the success of said training such that  property teams quickly become both comfortable and capable in their understanding of PGH accounting tools, systems, processes, weekly reporting, and standard operating procedures following transition.
  • Direct and support the implementation and completion of transition processes and checklists, to include supporting the coordination of a thorough handoff to Regional Finance leaders when appropriate.
  • Partner with CAO, Treasury, Regional Finance, property leadership, and transition stakeholders to drive rapid property stabilization after opening, acquisition, or transition.
  • Identify risks, roadblocks, or process gaps during transition and escalate issues with recommended solutions to transition team leadership.
  • Assist in the preparation of stub period budgets for recently transitioned properties and pre-opening budgets for new development properties.
  • Assist in preparation and review of close-out transition reserves for properties transitioning out of PGH management.
  • Participate in the preparation and review of proration schedules as prescribed by associated Purchase & Sale Agreements for transitioning hotels.
  • Support continuous improvement of transition accounting procedures, documentation, checklists, templates, and training materials.
  • Periodically travel to select newly transitioned properties to conduct in-person training with hotel teams

What are we looking for?

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum of five to seven years of progressive accounting, finance operations, hotel accounting, shared services, or transition-related experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of hotel accounting operations, internal controls, financial reporting, balance sheet support, and monthly close processes.
  • Working knowledge of USALI and GAAP standards.
  • Experience supporting property openings, acquisitions, transitions, new developments, and/or system conversions preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with accounting systems, reporting tools, Excel, and data mapping or conversion processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, deadlines, and stakeholder groups in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel periodically for select hotel training projects
