About the Position
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Housekeeping Aide to join our MMC team. The Housekeeping Aide is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and healthcare staff. This position plays an important role in supporting patient care by ensuring that patient rooms, treatment areas, hallways, restrooms, offices, and other hospital spaces are cleaned and disinfected according to established hospital policies and infection-control standards.
The Housekeeping Aide will perform routine and specialized cleaning duties, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, sanitizing surfaces, removing waste, cleaning restrooms, and replenishing supplies. The successful candidate will follow proper procedures for handling cleaning chemicals, equipment, and healthcare-related waste while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
The ideal candidate is reliable, respectful, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This position requires the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, visitors, nurses, physicians, and other hospital staff. A strong commitment to cleanliness, safety, infection prevention, teamwork, and patient satisfaction is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms, treatment areas, offices, hallways, restrooms, and other hospital areas.
- Follow hospital infection-control and sanitation procedures.
- Properly handle and dispose of waste according to facility policies.
- Restock cleaning supplies and patient-care areas as needed.
- Operate cleaning equipment and use approved cleaning products safely.
- Respond promptly to cleaning requests and spills.
- Maintain a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude toward patients, families, visitors, and staff.
- Follow all hospital safety, infection-prevention, and confidentiality policies.
- Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or supply shortages to the appropriate supervisor.
- Perform other housekeeping duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous housekeeping, janitorial, environmental services, or healthcare experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, push, pull, and lift as required for the position.
- Must be able to work the assigned schedule, including weekends or holidays when required.
