Purpose of the role
To manage the implementation of strategic change initiatives to enhance the banks operational efficiency.
Accountabilities
- Management of strategic operational changes and initiatives to enhance the bank's operational efficiency and effectiveness, including the identification and assessment of changes on people, processes, and systems.
- Collaboration with internal stakeholders, including business leaders, project managers and SMEs to support business operation team and promote alignment between operations with the bank’s objectives.
- Development and implementation of change management strategies and effectively communicate the strategies so they are understood and adopted by stakeholders.
- Management and development of KPIs to measure the effectiveness of business functions, utilising data and technology to support the identification of areas that require improvement.
- Comply with all regulatory requirements and internal policies related to change management.
- Provision of guidance and support to stakeholders throughout the operational change management process through training and coaching.

Managing the Product Backlog: Responsible for creating, maintaining and prioritising the product backlog, ensuring the highest value features are delivered first based on business needs, customer requirements and organisational impacts, balancing risk mitigation and future-proofing against the product strategy. Prioritise opportunities that drive simplification, elimination of non-value-added activity, automation and scalable operational improvements.
Act as the Voice of the Customer & Voice of the Colleague: Continuously gather feedback from customers, colleagues and end-users to understand their pain points and ensure that the product meets their needs and improves their overall experience.
Acceptance Criteria Definition & Management: Review and accept or reject work completed by the development team during sprints, ensuring that all delivered features meet the agreed acceptance criteria and deliver business value.
Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with stakeholders (e.g., customers, business leaders, operations, technology, control functions and transformation teams) to gather requirements, define product goals and ensure that the product vision aligns with business objectives.
Drive Transformation Outcomes: Lead cross-functional initiatives across Operations, Product and Technology to identify, prioritise and deliver opportunities for simplification, automation, AI-enabled change and end-to-end journey transformation, ensuring measurable business outcomes are achieved.
Monitor Product Performance and Iterate: Regularly assess product performance using KPIs and customer feedback, adjusting the product backlog and roadmap to improve functionality and meet evolving customer needs. Manage ongoing readiness and run activities of live products, including monitoring, governance and approvals. Track and report realised benefits against agreed success measures, including customer outcomes, operational efficiency, capacity creation, control effectiveness and adoption metrics.
Risk and Control: Managing risk, including identification of potential risks, development of strategies to resolve or mitigate, and escalation as necessary, ensuring alignment between product management and control functions. Ensure product solutions meet Barclays risk, control, governance and regulatory expectations while balancing customer, colleague and business outcomes.
Desirable skills sets:
Considerable business & technical acumen with hands-on experience partnering with product, operations, controls, engineering and design, including APIs, data models and solution architecture.
Proactive and ambitious product leader who thrives in ambiguity and is motivated by building scalable, foundational and transformation capabilities.
Ability to define and deliver a clear product roadmap whilst navigating complex regulatory and compliance environments, translating business strategy into measurable customer, colleague, risk and efficiency outcomes.
Experience in financial services, ideally within Retail Banking.
Experience establishing and championing product and engineering conventions to drive alignment and collaboration.
Experience leading process simplification, operating model transformation, automation and/or AI-enabled change initiatives within a complex organisation.
