Job Description Summary
The Junior Learning Designer supports end-to-end course development. This role works closely with the Learning Designers to prepare, generate, refine, and quality-check online course content. The Junior Learning Designer serves as a production engine, quality filter, and process accelerator, using AI-assisted tools to generate and organize course materials, then applying instructional design judgment, attention to detail, and technical skill to bring courses to a polished, launch-ready state.Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Intake & Planning Support
- Prepare and pre-fill portions of the AI course intake form
- Review faculty submissions for completeness and clarity
- Flag missing elements or unclear learning outcomes
- Confirm that learning outcomes are measurable
- Communicate with faculty to resolve questions or gaps in intake materials
- AI-Assisted Course & Content Development
- Run AI generation prompts to produce course structure and content drafts
- Organize AI-generated outputs for Learning Designer review
- Perform initial quality scans and flag misalignment with course objectives
- Generate content pages using the organization's prompt library
- Clean up formatting and standardize tone and voice across content
- Tag content by type and ensure alignment with stated learning objectives
- Identify and flag low-quality AI-generated output for revision
- Interactive Activity & Course Build
- Generate drafts of interactive activities from AI tools
- Build activities using tools such as Articulate Storyline
- Apply established templates to activities and course pages
- Test activity functionality before review
- Escalate complex design issues to the Learning Designer
- Populate the LMS course shell and apply templates and styling
- Format pages, add media, and run accessibility pre-checks
- Assist with alignment checks between content, activities, and objectives
- Review, Revision & Quality Assurance
- Package completed courses for academic accuracy review
- Track and organize reviewer feedback
- Make straightforward edits directly; escalate complex revisions as needed
- Maintain version control throughout the review and revision cycle
- Run QA checklists and test LMS components before launch
- Verify accessibility compliance and fix minor issues
- Support final course launch activities
Qualifications
- Required
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. MSID a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Comfort working with AI content-generation tools and prompt libraries
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with faculty and senior staff
- Basic understanding of measurable learning outcomes and instructional alignment
- Preferred
- Experience with AI tools, Articulate Storyline, or similar e-learning authoring tools
- Working knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG, Section 508)
- Prior experience in higher education or online course development
- Familiarity with version control and course review workflows
Role Summary

- Process accelerator: reduces workload on the Senior Learning Designer by handling first-pass production work
