Senior Security Engineer

As a Senior Security Engineer, you'll play a key role in helping protect Beca's information assets and technology platforms while supporting our ongoing digital transformation journey. Working within our Technology team, you'll partner closely with architects, engineers and platform owners to embed security best practice across enterprise systems, cloud environments, applications, data platforms and emerging AI-enabled technologies.

This is a highly collaborative role where you'll provide specialist guidance, influence security outcomes, and help teams make informed decisions that balance risk, security and business needs. You'll contribute to security architecture reviews, threat modelling, security assurance activities, incident response, and the development of security standards, patterns and controls that can be consistently applied across the organisation.

Working in a predominantly Microsoft technology environment, you'll have the opportunity to shape security practices across a large and complex organisation while staying at the forefront of evolving technologies, cyber threats and security frameworks. Depending on your background, you may also contribute to strengthening Beca's emerging AI security and governance capabilities as we continue to modernise and innovate.

Mōu ake | About you

You'll be an experienced security professional who combines strong technical capability with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence positive security outcomes across a diverse organisation. You enjoy solving complex problems, can quickly adapt to evolving technologies, and are confident working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• Significant experience in security engineering, cybersecurity, cloud security or infrastructure security within medium to large-scale environments.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft security technologies and modern security practices across cloud, applications, platforms and infrastructure.
• Experience conducting threat modelling, risk assessments, security reviews and implementing effective security controls.
• Knowledge of recognised security and governance frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework and related industry standards.
• Experience supporting incident response, investigations, remediation activities and continuous security improvements.
• The ability to partner with engineering and technology teams to embed security into delivery processes and operational environments.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain security concepts clearly, influence decisions and build credibility with stakeholders.
• A proactive, adaptable and collaborative approach, with a passion for continuous learning and staying ahead of emerging threats and technologies.
