Position Summary
The Senior Director, UACL Brokerage is responsible for leading and scaling the brokerage division through strategic leadership, operational excellence, customer growth, carrier development, and financial performance. This executive leader will develop and execute brokerage strategies that drive revenue growth, margin expansion, service excellence, and market competitiveness.
The role requires a proven transportation and logistics leader with extensive brokerage experience, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to build and develop high-performing teams. The Senior Director will oversee brokerage operations, sales, carrier procurement, customer success, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring alignment with company objectives and customer expectations.
Additionally, this leader will develop and manage strategic relationships across intermodal, dedicated, and full truckload (FTL) carrier networks, leveraging Universal's transportation capabilities to create comprehensive customer solutions and support long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and execute the strategic vision, growth plan, and operating objectives for UACL Brokerage.
· Drive revenue growth, profitability, customer retention, and market expansion through effective sales and business development strategies.
· Lead brokerage operations, ensuring optimal load coverage, carrier capacity management, and service execution.
· Build and maintain strategic relationships with customers, intermodal providers, dedicated fleet partners, and truckload carriers.
· Establish pricing, procurement, and carrier management strategies that maximize profitability and service performance.
· Own brokerage P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance.
· Identify and implement process improvements, technology enhancements, and operational efficiencies.
· Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure accountability for service, margin, productivity, and growth goals.
· Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team across sales, operations, and carrier procurement functions.
· Partner with internal transportation divisions to deliver integrated brokerage, intermodal, dedicated, and truckload solutions.
