Job Description Summary
The Steam Turbine Engineering team develops and designs highly efficient turbomachines through the latest engineering sciences and disciplines integrated with digital technologies. Activities contribute to the design and development of products, solutions and overall steam turbine system design for combined cycle projects.An exciting opportunity exists to join our highly experienced Steam Turbine Operability team. As a Steam Turbine Operability Engineer, you will be responsible to identify operational parameters for the steam turbine for safe operation, identify necessary supervisory and instrumentation equipment including positioning and specifications, and supporting the entry to commercial operation of new unit requisition projects.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Identify and provide the operating parameters on the steam turbine for safe operation; interfacing with the ST Controls Engineering team to provide input into the steam turbine controller.
- Define the instrumentation required for safe and effective operation of the steam turbine, including positioning and specifications for sensors or instruments and provide guidance to the mechanical design teams.
- Support the entry to commercial operation of new steam turbine equipment from new unit requisition projects, supporting commissioning activities and monitoring unit behavior.
- Analyze operational field data of the operational steam turbine fleet. Share results and recommendations with internal steam turbine design teams.
- Support the development of technical standards, best practices, design practices and process improvements as a member of the ST Operability team; lead small teams to drive results and definition.
- Support Product Service with operability questions for the operational fleet.
Required Qualifications
For roles outside USA:
- Relevant experience in the steam turbine design and or operability.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology from an accredited university or college.
For roles in USA:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology from an accredited university or college.
- 3 years experience in steam turbine design and or operability.
Desired Characteristics
- At least 3 years of experience in systems engineering preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
- Established project management skills.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $89,300.00 and $148,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
