Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Help Residents Find Their Voice, Regain Function, and Live More Independently.

We are seeking a compassionate and clinically driven Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our rehabilitation team. As an SLP at Parkway, you will have the opportunity to provide individualized, resident-centered therapy while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team dedicated to improving resident outcomes and quality of life.

 

Parkway is a 141-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in Boston, Massachusetts, providing both Short-Term Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care services. Our SLPs work with residents experiencing a wide range of communication, cognitive, and swallowing needs.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

As a Speech-Language Pathologist, you will evaluate residents, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide skilled therapy services designed to improve communication, cognition, swallowing, safety, and overall functional independence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform comprehensive speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing evaluations based on resident needs
  • Develop individualized treatment plans focused on meaningful functional goals
  • Provide skilled speech-language pathology services in accordance with physician orders and established plans of care
  • Treat communication disorders involving speech, language, voice, and cognition
  • Evaluate and treat swallowing and feeding difficulties to promote safe and effective intake
  • Address cognitive-communication challenges that may impact safety, independence, and participation in daily activities
  • Provide therapeutic interventions designed to improve communication, comprehension, expression, memory, reasoning, and problem-solving
  • Educate residents, families, and caregivers regarding treatment strategies, communication techniques, and swallowing safety
  • Recommend appropriate compensatory strategies, adaptive techniques, and communication supports when indicated
  • Participate in resident care planning and interdisciplinary team meetings
  • Assist with discharge planning and provide recommendations to support successful transitions
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations
  • Collaborate with nursing, physicians, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
  • Monitor resident progress and modify treatment approaches as clinically appropriate
  • Promote a safe, supportive, and positive rehabilitation environment

Our Speech-Language Pathologists work with residents experiencing a variety of rehabilitation needs, including:

  • Stroke and neurological recovery
  • Aphasia and other language disorders
  • Dysarthria and motor speech disorders
  • Cognitive-communication challenges
  • Memory and reasoning deficits
  • Dysphagia and swallowing disorders
  • Voice disorders
  • Functional communication difficulties
  • General cognitive or functional decline
  • Long-term maintenance and quality-of-life goals

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
  • Current Massachusetts license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association preferred
  • Experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, or a related healthcare setting preferred
  • Strong clinical reasoning, evaluation, and treatment planning skills
  • Knowledge of current speech-language pathology practices and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative therapy team
  • Current, valid CPR/BLS credential, as required
  • Verification of qualifications and licensure as required by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health
  • This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
