Job Description

Texas A&M University-Victoria seeks one full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Public Health, with an anticipated start date of January 2027. The position is located at the Victoria Campus.

Qualifications: The College of Education and Health Professions at Texas A&M University-Victoria invites applications for a tenure-track position in Public Health. We seek an individual with an earned doctorate in Public Health, Health Education, Health Promotion, Community Health, Epidemiology, or a closely related field by December 2026.

Candidates should demonstrate strong potential for teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels and possess knowledge of contemporary public health practice. The successful candidate will contribute to the continued development of TAMUV's Public Health program, formerly Health Studies, and help prepare students for careers and advanced study in public health, community health, health promotion, and related health professions.

Successful candidates will:

· Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in Public Health in traditional and online formats (4-course or equivalent teaching load in the fall and spring semesters);

· Teach courses in areas appropriate to the candidate's expertise, which may include community and public health, health promotion, epidemiology, health behavior, program planning and evaluation, environmental health, health disparities, research methods, or related areas;

· Contribute to the continued development and strengthening of the Public Health curriculum;

· Help prepare students for employment, professional certifications, graduate education, and careers in public and community health;

· Develop collaborative relationships with community organizations, healthcare providers, governmental and public health agencies, and other regional partners;

· Participate in program assessment and continuous improvement;

· Maintain an appropriate scholarly agenda consistent with expectations for a tenure-track faculty appointment; and

· Contribute to the college and university's mission through assigned service.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated excellence in university teaching in traditional and online environments and experience in public health, community health, or health promotion practice. Additional preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate:

· An MPH and/or doctoral degree from a CEPH-accredited school or program of public health;

· Expertise in one or more areas such as epidemiology, community health, health promotion, health behavior, program planning and evaluation, environmental health, or population health;

· Experience developing or maintaining partnerships with public health agencies, healthcare organizations, schools, nonprofit organizations, or community-based programs;

· Experience incorporating applied or experiential learning into undergraduate or graduate instruction;

· Experience mentoring students for careers and graduate study in public health and related health professions;

· Experience with curriculum development, program assessment, or accreditation;

· Evidence of scholarly productivity or a clearly defined research agenda; and

· A commitment to serving the health and workforce needs of South Texas, the Coastal Bend region, and diverse communities.

Setting: Texas A&M University-Victoria is the most recent addition to the Texas A&M University System. The University was founded in 1973 as part of the University of Houston System and was transferred to the Texas A&M University System during the 89th Texas Legislative Session. A&M-Victoria is the only four-year university in a 100-mile radius and is just 30 miles from the Texas Gulf Coast.
