How You Will Make an Impact
The Community Support Services Receptionist enhances the dignity and quality of life of our service users, visitors, managers and staff by providing respectful, efficient and timely services. The Receptionist will greet people, direct visitors to appropriate person or service, answer and forward telephone calls, take messages, schedule appointments and perform other clerical duties. To provide service in a dignified and respectful manner that integrates feminist, anti-oppression/anti-racism, and trauma frameworks. Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of Responsibility, Availability, Adaptability, Hospitality, Quality and Dignity
- The Receptionist will be the primary initial contact at Community Support Servies, answering doors, answering and directing phone calls, room bookings, screening, handling donations, as well as administrative functions
- Responsible for participating in Good Shepherd's Health and Safety programs, procedures and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations to minimize risk to clients, staff and others as well as to the property of the Good Shepherd
- Respect and protect the confidentiality of service user information, as well as all other information that is sensitive in nature to the operation of the program, the Good Shepherd Centres, staff, volunteers and others.
- To act as an important communication centre for staff and service users for the efficient and effective communication of information necessary to assist clients.
What You'll Bring to Our Team
- Completed education in a related field of study required
- Previous experience in administrative or receptionist-based position required.
- Understand and utilize feminist, client-directed, anti-oppression, anti-racism frameworks and harm reduction principles
- Knowledge, skills, and experience to support/enhance a service/residential environment that is culturally safe and Trans/Gender positive is essential
- Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer, and Database applications.
- Detail-oriented; well-organized with a demonstrated ability to appropriately prioritize workload
- Experience in a residential setting is an asset
- A valid Ontario Driver's License (G) and ability to drive company vehicle is an asset
- An appreciation and understanding of a range of issues impacting cis women, trans and non-binary individuals including abuse, poverty, homelessness, mental health and substance use
- Valid CPR certification (or willingness to be certified)
- Fluency in a language in addition to English is an asset
- Demonstrated understanding of workplace health and safety practices and understanding of an employee's responsibility under current legislation.
