A Brief Summary of This Position:

The Product Specialist serves as the subject matter expert for assigned products and solutions, supporting product strategy, market positioning, customer adoption, and commercial execution. This role acts as the critical link between customers, dealers, sales teams, engineering, manufacturing, and marketing by translating market needs into product improvements and business opportunities. The Product Specialist drives product knowledge across the organization, supports product launches, develops value-based selling tools, delivers technical training, and continuously gathers Voice of Customer insights to enhance Valmont's product portfolio and market competitiveness.

Essential Functions:

Product Strategy & Portfolio Development

  • Support the execution of product strategies aligned with business objectives and market opportunities.
  • Monitor product performance and recommend actions to improve market penetration, profitability, and customer adoption.
  • Contribute to product roadmap discussions through customer insights and competitive intelligence.
  • Support portfolio optimization initiatives and lifecycle management activities.

Voice of Customer & Market Intelligence

  • Collect, organize, and communicate Voice of Customer feedback from dealers, growers, consultants, and end users.
  • Identify emerging customer needs, market trends, and technology developments.
  • Monitor market dynamics and competitive activities, including new product introductions and positioning strategies.
  • Provide recommendations based on customer, dealer, and market feedback.

Product Launch & Commercial Enablement

  • Support planning and execution of new product launches.
  • Develop product positioning, value propositions, and key selling arguments.
  • Assist Marketing and Sales teams in building product communication strategies.
  • Create and maintain commercial and technical support materials.

Technical Expertise & Training

  • Serve as the technical reference for assigned product lines.
  • Develop and deliver technical training programs for dealers, customers, territory managers, and internal teams.
  • Support product demonstrations and field validation activities.
  • Ensure technical content remains accurate and aligned with product evolution.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Engineering, Marketing, Manufacturing, Sales, Service, and Product Management teams.
  • Support product improvement projects and innovation initiatives.
  • Participate in product development reviews and customer feedback sessions.
  • Assist internal stakeholders in resolving technical and commercial product-related issues.

Product Performance Management

  • Monitor product adoption, customer acceptance, and market performance.
  • Analyze commercial and operational data to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Recommend corrective actions and product enhancement initiatives.
  • Develop regular performance reports and executive summaries.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business, Marketing, or related field.
  • Strong technical understanding of irrigation products and agricultural production systems.
  • Experience in product support, technical sales, marketing, engineering, or agribusiness.
  • Ability to analyze market trends and customer needs.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to deliver training programs and technical presentations.
  • Intermediate to Advanced English proficiency.
  • Availability for frequent travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with irrigation systems and precision agriculture technologies.
  • Experience supporting product launches.
  • Knowledge of product lifecycle management processes.
  • Experience with CRM, Power BI, and market intelligence tools.
  • Exposure to Voice of Customer methodologies.
  • Knowledge of competitor benchmarking and market analysis.
