Dillon’s Contaminant Assessment & Management discipline is looking for an Intermediate Environmental Engineer/Environmental Scientist to join our multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities

Project Execution and Technical Activities

• Leading and/or contributing to Coordinate and manage Phase I–III Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), site remediation, compliance monitoring, and soil vapour intrusion evaluations.
• Assist senior staff and Qualified Persons (QPESA) in collecting, evaluating, and reporting data for human health/ecological risk assessments, Conceptual Site Models (CSMs), and Records of Site Condition (RSCs).
• Apply working knowledge of O. Reg. 153/04 and O. Reg. 406/19 (Excess Soil) to develop excess soil management plans, oversee field characterization, and process registry filings.
• Prepare clear, concise technical reports, work plans, remedial options analyses, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate field programs, subcontractors (drillers, laboratories, excavators), and budget/schedule tracking for intermediate-scale projects.
• Maintain direct client communication and assist with proposal writing and scope development.

Learning and Professional Development

• Drive continuous learning and mentor junior staff in data science and digital project delivery methodologies, developing the next generation of tech-forward leaders.
• Pursue continuous technical training in emerging contaminants, provincial standards, and digital field data collection tools.
• Participate in professional industry associations (e.g., PEO, PGO, ONEIA).

Qualifications

• Five or more years of experience in environmental consulting or related experience, including project coordination and management.
• A degree in environmental engineering, geoscience, or another relevant environmental discipline.
• Professional designation or eligibility to achieve professional designation (e.g., P.Eng., P.Geo) within 12 months in Ontario.
• In depth knowledge of the regulations governing contaminated sites and environmental work in Ontario and on Federal sites.  (e.g. O.Reg.153/04, O.Reg.903, O.Reg.406/19, O.Reg.347, CCME Guidelines), and
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and organizational skills.
• Valid Ontario Driver’s License (Class G) and access to a reliable vehicle.

Experience

• 5–8 years of environmental consulting experience in Ontario focused on contaminated site assessment and remediation.
• Practical working knowledge of O. Reg. 153/04, O. Reg. 406/19, MECP guidelines, and CCME criteria.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in soil, groundwater, and soil vapour sampling, remediation system monitoring, and contractor oversight.
• Strong technical writing, data management, project task coordination, and multi-tasking skills.
• Has or is fully able to obtain Federal Security Status (Reliability or greater) and satisfactorily passes a police check
• Passionate about personal and professional growth, working collaboratively to meet and exceed our clients’ expectations, and developing innovative solutions.
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and organizational skills.
• Technical proficiency in site characterization, field procedures, reporting and health and safety. Additional proficiency in one or more of excess soils management, geology, hydrogeology, chemistry, remediation, cost estimation, contracting/construction administration and/or observation, hazardous materials, risk assessment, and data management are considered an asset. 

Compensation

$75,000 - $98,000

 

Dillon is including the salary range that we in good faith believe may offer for this position. It will be dependent on the successful applicant’s education, experience, and skills, in addition to internal equity and geographic region. Dillon reserves the right to pay outside of the posted range, contingent on factors unrelated to an applicant’s gender or other status protected by provincial and/or federal law.
