Underwriting Internship Program - Global Risk Solutions - Summer 2027

Are you curious, analytical, and energized by solving complex business challenges? Do you enjoy evaluating information, building relationships, and asking, "What if?" If so, you'll be in your element as an Underwriting Intern with Liberty Mutual's Global Risk Solutions (GRS) team.

 

The Details

Underwriters help businesses navigate risk and make informed decisions every day. They focus on two fundamental questions: Should Liberty Mutual provide insurance coverage for a particular organization, and what is an appropriate price for the risk we would assume by providing that coverage?

 

During this 11-week internship, you'll work alongside experienced underwriters and gain exposure to how underwriting decisions support business growth, protect customers, and contribute to a profitable portfolio.

 

As an intern, you'll develop a foundational understanding of underwriting by analyzing business and financial information, learning how risks are evaluated and priced, and contributing to meaningful projects alongside experienced professionals. You'll gain exposure to commercial insurance products while building analytical, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills. In addition to hands-on work, you'll participate in professional development opportunities that help you expand your network and explore future career paths within Global Risk Solutions.

Global Risk Solutions provides commercial and specialty insurance, surety, and reinsurance solutions for mid-sized, large, and multinational organizations. Our underwriters partner with businesses across a variety of industries, helping them manage complex risks and make confident business decisions.

 

 

This position may have in-office requirements depending on candidate location.

Our Summer 2027 Early Talent internships are a set 11-weeks in length, with 2 options for start/end dates. Limited exceptions to these start/end dates may be considered on a case-by-case basis: May 17, 2027 - July 30, 2027 or June 1, 2027 - August 13, 2027

 

 

Qualifications

What you’ve got

• You are pursuing a bachelor's degree in Risk Management & Insurance, Economics, Business, or comparable with at least one semester remaining following the Summer of 2027 with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
• You have 0-2 years of professional experience. 
• You possess strong analytical, decision-making, and negotiating skills.
• You have solid interpersonal skills and demonstrate a passion for customer service. 
• You must be willing to complete professional designation(s) and continued insurance education post graduation.
• You must be available to work full-time for 11 weeks.
• You must have permanent work authorization in the United States.
