Description
GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION: The City of Lake Oswego Parks & Recreation Department is seeking Teen Lounge Counselors. The ideal candidate is reliable, task-oriented, and values punctuality. Responsible for assisting Middle and High School students at the LO Teen Lounge afterschool program consisting of participants in grades 6-12. Must implement program curriculum through positive communication. Must be a dependable, reliable, and knowledgeable individual who is confident being accountable for the safety and happiness of youth participants. Applicants must be comfortable working independently. |
- Organize activities, supervise participants, encourage positive decision making under the direction of the Teen & Outdoor Recreation Specialist
- Assist with implementation of curriculum, classes/clubs, and events
- Establish positive working relationships with participants, parents, and co-workers
- Enforce safety rules for all patrons.
- Implement and/or administer discipline and safety measures when necessary
- Assist with clean up and set up of activities and monitor program areas
- Minor office work including filing, mailings, etc.
- Be a positive presence in program areas
- Communicate incident/injury reports to supervisor
- CPR/AED Certification (can obtain upon hire)
- Enthusiasm, good organizational and people skills are necessary.
- Have knowledge of age-appropriate children's activities and skills which could include sports, crafts, cooking, science, outdoor recreation and/or other recreational and cultural activities
- Ability to follow through on directions independently
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to be on time to all shifts
- Must be able to lift 25lbs
