Role Summary

The Reagent Manufacturing Technician leads the daily production of reagents and ensures that all manufactured reagents and kits meet the requirement per the procedures.

You will formulate, test, and package chemical and biological reagents used in diagnostics and research. Responsibilities include precise liquid handling, operating automated filling and labeling equipment, following ISO/GMP regulations, and accurately maintaining batch records and Device History Records (DHRs)

Key Responsibilities

• Formulation & Processing: Accurately measure, weigh, mix, and filter chemical and biological solutions based on precise standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Filling & Packaging: Aliquot bulk reagents into final container bottles, operate automated/semi-automated fill lines, and assemble multi-reagent kits.
• Quality Control & Assurance: Perform visual inspections, incoming material QC, gather samples for testing, conduct pH/concentration checks, and support root-cause investigations into production deviations.
• Documentation & Compliance: Complete and review batch records and DHRs, ensuring 100% compliance with cGMP, GDP, and ISO standards.
• Inventory & Maintenance: Track raw materials in ERP systems, manage reagent cold-chain storage, and maintain a sterile, organized laboratory workspace.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in reagent manufacturing, reagent preparation, or inventory management; experience in PCR and/or NGS reagent manufacturing highly preferred
• Familiarity with working with flow hood and fume hood environments, as well as common equipment in a typical molecular biology lab
• Skillful with pipetting and mixing reagents, including enzymes, oligos, and buffer solutions
• Strong teamwork skills and ability to work collaboratively in a supportive, production-focused lab setting.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and perform additional duties as assigned.
• Previous experience and understanding of OSHA hazard communication requirements such as biosafety protocols.
• Familiarity with PCR and DNA quantitation techniques is highly preferred.
• Ability to support as a back-up to shipping, receiving and inventory control.

Required Qualifications

• Education: B.S. degree in a STEM discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Biotech) is preferred, though relevant hands-on experience and completed STEM coursework are often accepted.
• Experience: 1 to 3+ years working in a GMP/ISO-regulated manufacturing environment in life science tools, diagnostic, medical device, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Experience with manufacturing of PCR, NGS, and other molecular biology reagent products highly preferred.
• Skills: Aseptic techniques, high dexterity for repetitive pipetting, proficiency with metric/imperial volume measurements, prolonged standing, color differentiation (relevant given reagent manufacturing such as pH/concentration visual checks) and the physical ability to lift up to 25–50 lbs.
• Superb attention to details; ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment, and priorities can change on a regular basis

Work Environment

This role is based in a laboratory setting within a manufacturing and packaging department. The standard production hours are flexible and only part-time. The desire is for someone to be here between Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., weekends are not currently required. This role is an onsite work that includes time under flowhoods and fume hood areas while filling liquid products, as well as operating printers, labelers, electronic or mechanical filling equipment, and other common molecular biology lab equipment. The position requires wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, including latex gloves and safety glasses. This is a contract role created to address an extensive backlog, with a history of extensions beyond the initial term based on business needs and performance.
