Key Responsibilities
1. Incoming Quality Strategy & Leadership
- Establish and manage incoming quality control processes and inspection facilities.
- Ensure availability of appropriate inspection resources, equipment, gauges, and testing methods.
- Develop incoming inspection procedures, sampling plans, and testing protocols.
- Lead, mentor, and support inspectors and quality technicians.
- Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
2. Quality Management System (QMS)
- Maintain compliance with the organization's Quality Management System.
- Ensure proper documentation of inspection reports, test results, and material disposition records.
- Define and maintain Quality Inspection Plans within ERP systems.
- Utilize quality tools and data analysis to support process improvements.
- Ensure records are maintained according to regulatory and business requirements.
3. Incoming Inspection Process & Specifications
- Develop standardized incoming inspection procedures and acceptance criteria.
- Establish sampling plans and inspection methods based on product criticality and risk.
- Define test methods using CtQ requirements from R&D and design risk assessments (DFMEA).
- Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and PPAP approval processes.
- Ensure alignment between inspection methods and measurement system capabilities.
- Verify supplier compliance with engineering specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.
4. Supplier Quality & Supply Performance
- Support Supply Chain Management by providing supplier quality data and performance metrics.
- Monitor incoming defect rates and supplier quality trends.
- Collaborate with Procurement and Supplier Quality teams to establish quality agreements.
- Work with suppliers to resolve material non-conformities and quality concerns.
- Participate in supplier quality improvement initiatives and performance reviews.
5. Process Performance Management
- Monitor KPI performance of incoming inspection activities.
- Analyze inspection data and identify trends, recurring defects, and improvement opportunities.
- Benchmark performance against organizational targets and industry standards.
- Develop action plans to improve inspection effectiveness and efficiency.
- Report deviations and risks to management.
6. Non-Conformance Management
- Identify and segregate non-conforming materials and components.
- Document defects and deviations from specifications.
- Initiate Supply Non-Conformance Management (SNCM) processes.
- Communicate quality issues to relevant stakeholders promptly.
- Support root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Verify and document Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) associated with supplier defects.
- Provide factual inspection evidence to support supplier claims and corrective actions.
7. Continuous Improvement
- Analyze incoming inspection results to identify recurring quality issues.
- Support cross-functional improvement initiatives.
- Improve inspection methods, testing techniques, and quality controls.
- Participate in Lean and Six Sigma projects.
Support reduction of supplier defects and quality-related costs.
