Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Adjunct Faculty member is teaching. We are seeking adjunct faculty to teach the following course at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI):

PHAR 6430 Introduction to Pharmacy Informatics (Fall semester, 2 credits)

Course Description:

This introductory course in pharmacy informatics focuses on medication therapy related knowledge, applications and data within health care systems. Informatics consists of the acquisition, storage, analysis, use and dissemination of data to help provide safe, evidenced-based patient care. Historical as well as prospective development, application and implementation of technology for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to support and streamline workflow will be highlighted with an emphasis upon best practices and systems to increase efficiency across the medication use process and improve patient safety.

The successful candidate must share in the mission of KGI and the School of Pharmacy. The Adjunct Faculty member reports directly to the Program Director of Clinical Sciences and works with other faculty.

Education and Experience:

Minimum of a PharmD degree and one year experience in the field of pharmacy informatics. A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, prior experience in teaching for active learning preferred. Experience with the Canvas learning management system is a plus.

• Provides high-quality student instruction.

Hours, Classification, and Status: 

This is a part-time, exempt, adjunct faculty position and is not eligible for benefits.

Schedules will vary depending on course assignments and the needs of the department or the Institute.

The base salary range for this position is $2,500 - $15,000 per semester, depending on credits per course.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Ability to maintain good concentration level while dealing with interruptions; attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy; capable of giving, receiving, and analyzing information, formulating work plans, and articulating goals and action plans.  Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time.  Standing for extended periods of time. Reaching and extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.  Finger dexterity is required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than the whole hand(s), or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard.  Communication skills using the spoken word. Ability to see within normal parameters.  Ability to hear within normal parameters.  Ability to bend and stoop, for example, to file.  Ability to move about.  Ability to lift and carry short distances up to 20 lbs., for example to lift or move office supplies, files, books and packages. Ability to travel locally, depending on business needs.
