Job Summary

The International Transportation Specialist II serves as an experienced logistics and transportation professional responsible for coordinating, optimizing, and supporting domestic and international transportation activities across the organization’s supply chain network. Operating with a high degree of independence, this role provides centralized oversight of transportation operations, ensuring efficient execution, regulatory compliance, cost management, and service performance.  As the transportation network continues to expand in complexity, both domestically and internationally, this position serves as a key resource for improving operational visibility, driving transportation-related initiatives, and supporting the organization's growth objectives. The role acts as a critical liaison between internal stakeholders, carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and distribution partners to ensure seamless transportation execution while identifying opportunities for process improvements and cost optimization.  The International Transportation Specialist II combines operational execution with analytical and process improvement responsibilities to support a growing domestic and international transportation network. By leveraging transportation data and performance metrics, the role enhances cost visibility, improves efficiency, strengthens compliance, and supports strategic initiatives. As a mid-level professional contributor, this position is responsible for executing and optimizing transportation activities while advancing transportation centralization, standardization, and continuous improvement efforts that deliver measurable business value.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate domestic and international transportation activities to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective movement of products.
  • Manage daily transportation operations, including freight quoting, carrier selection, shipment scheduling, tracking, and delivery issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, warehouses, and internal stakeholders to support shipment execution and service performance.
  • Investigate, manage, and resolve freight claims, service failures, and transportation-related escalations.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for transportation inquiries from internal and external customers.
  • Support transportation initiatives associated with network expansion, new sourcing locations, and international shipping lanes, including Honduras and other emerging regions.
  • Participate in transportation-related projects involving network design, onboarding new logistics partners, and implementation of standardized transportation processes.
  • Contribute to key supply chain initiatives such as Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) optimization, Fluence, PxC Manufacturing, and other business growth programs.
  • Support transportation planning activities associated with domestic volume growth and potential facility expansions.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, customs requirements, import/export documentation standards, and company policies.
  • Coordinate and monitor dangerous goods (DG) shipments to ensure adherence to applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain transportation records and documentation to support audits, reporting requirements, and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify transportation risks and recommend corrective actions to minimize business exposure.
  • Analyze freight spend and transportation costs to identify trends, inefficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Conduct freight audits and collaborate with third-party audit providers to resolve billing discrepancies and improve invoice accuracy.
  • Support carrier rate management and transportation procurement activities through data analysis and performance evaluation.
  • Assist in developing transportation cost visibility and reporting tools to support business decision-making.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze transportation performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs), including on-time delivery, freight cost, claims rates, and carrier performance.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and analyses to provide transportation visibility and support operational and strategic decisions.
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, improve service levels, and support standardization.
  • Support the development and implementation of transportation policies, procedures, and best practices across the organization.
  • Leverage transportation data to recommend improvements and support the evolution of a centralized, data-driven transportation function.
  • Other role related responsibilities as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Transportation, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant transportation or logistics experience may be considered.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, freight management, or international transportation operations.
  • Experience coordinating domestic and international shipments across multiple transportation modes.
  • Experience working with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and third-party logistics providers.
  • Experience supporting transportation compliance, freight claims, rate management, and shipment tracking activities.
  • Experience analyzing transportation data, freight costs, and operational performance metrics.
  • Working knowledge of domestic and international transportation regulations and logistics processes.
  • Understanding of import/export requirements, customs documentation, and international shipping practices.
  • Knowledge of dangerous goods (DG) transportation requirements preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and recommend solutions.
  • Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS), ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and reporting tools.
  • Ability to create and analyze KPIs, dashboards, and operational reports.
  • Demonstrates specialized transportation expertise and applies technical knowledge to solve a variety of operational challenges.
  • Works independently with limited supervision while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Exercises sound judgment within established policies and procedures.
  • Strong organizational, project coordination, and planning skills.

  • This is a hybrid position unless otherwise specified requiring 3 days in the office.
