As an Assistant Facilities Manager specializing in electrical engineering, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the operational excellence and technical reliability of critical building systems. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic facility management, where you'll oversee electrical infrastructure, coordinate maintenance activities, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. At JLL, we are collectively shaping a brighter way — for our clients, ourselves and our fellow employees, and in this role, you'll be at the forefront of delivering exceptional facility performance. Your technical acumen and problem-solving abilities will be essential as you manage electrical systems, respond to critical issues, and implement preventive maintenance strategies that minimize downtime and optimize building performance.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems including HV/LV distribution, transformers, generators, UPS systems, and lighting infrastructure
- Conduct regular inspections and testing of electrical equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices
- Coordinate with contractors and service providers to execute planned preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and system upgrades
- Respond to electrical emergencies and technical failures, providing rapid assessment, troubleshooting, and resolution to minimize business disruption
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, test results, asset registers, and compliance records using computerized maintenance management systems
- Support energy management initiatives by monitoring consumption patterns, identifying efficiency opportunities, and implementing sustainability measures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on facility projects, renovations, and capital improvement programs requiring electrical engineering input
- Prepare technical reports, risk assessments, and recommendations for management and client stakeholders
- Mentor junior technicians and support the development of technical capabilities within the facilities team
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent professional qualification
- Licensed Electrical Engineer or recognized professional certification relevant to your location
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in facilities management, building services engineering, or technical maintenance operations
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and safety regulations including NEC, IEC, or local equivalents
- Demonstrated experience with HV/LV electrical systems, power distribution, backup power systems, and building automation
- Proven ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues under pressure
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred qualifications:
- Professional registration with relevant engineering bodies or institutions
- Experience working in commercial real estate, corporate facilities, or critical environment operations
- Knowledge of energy management systems, sustainability practices, and green building standards
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) such as Maximo, SAP, or similar platforms
- Project management experience including planning, budgeting, and contractor coordination
- Experience with building automation systems (BAS) and integration of electrical systems with smart building technologies
