POSITION OVERVIEW


BDC is currently transforming its marketing function to shift the organization from an activity-centered model to one focused on value creation, optimal resource allocation, and business impact.

The Senior Project Manager, Marketing Investment and Transformation Office (MITO) is responsible for designing, implementing, and evolving the mechanisms that enable Marketing to manage its investments as a strategic portfolio. In this role, the selected candidate oversees priority setting, capital allocation, performance management, measurement of value created, and steering the transformation of the function.

Acting as a strategic partner to the CMO and the marketing leadership team, the incumbent ensures that marketing investments, capabilities, and resources are aligned with BDC’s priorities and generate the best possible results.


CHALLENGES TO BE MET


Marketing Portfolio Governance

  • Define and operate the marketing portfolio governance model.
  • Establish mechanisms for prioritization, trade-offs, and decision-making.
  • Ensure complete visibility into marketing investments, initiatives, and capabilities.
  • Prepare investment recommendations for the CMO and the executive team.
  • Support the dynamic reallocation of capital in response to changing business priorities.
  • Introduce capital allocation discipline within the marketing function.

Performance Management and Value Creation

  • Develop and maintain a marketing scorecard aligned with business results.
  • Design performance metrics, value creation metrics, and return on investment (ROI) metrics.
  • Establish measurement mechanisms to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing investments.
  • Produce executive analyses for the executive committee and the board of directors.
  • Develop capabilities in forecasting, modeling, and decision analysis.
  • Promote results-based management rather than activity-based management.

Strategic Planning and Resource Management

  • Lead the annual marketing planning process.
  • Coordinate budgeting and resource allocation exercises.
  • Support financial planning and zero-based budgeting (ZBB) exercises.
  • Develop integrated planning approaches that link strategy, resources, investments, and results.
  • Identify capacity issues and recommend necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure alignment between strategic priorities and marketing investments.

Marketing Transformation and Modernization

  • Oversee the portfolio of marketing transformation initiatives.
  • Monitor the benefits, risks, dependencies, and timelines of major initiatives.
  • Establish governance mechanisms to ensure rigorous execution of the transformation.
  • Support strategic programs related to technology, data, automation, and artificial intelligence.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the marketing operational model.
  • Ensure a structured approach to change management.

Operational Excellence and Management Governance

  • Develop management and accountability standards.
  • Structure portfolio monitoring and demand management processes.
  • Facilitate quarterly portfolio reviews.
  • Ensure the quality of management and performance data.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, simplification, and automation.
  • Strengthen operational discipline across the entire function.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR


  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (business administration, finance, engineering, project management, or a related discipline).
  • 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in roles related to corporate strategy, portfolio management, organizational transformation, corporate finance, or an enterprise project management office (PMO/EPMO).
  • Proven experience in complex, matrix-based environments involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Experience in executive governance, particularly in preparing decision-making documents and recommendations for senior management.
  • Leadership experience in large-scale organizational, operational, or technological transformation initiatives.
  • Experience in portfolio management, investment prioritization, or resource allocation is a significant asset.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to transform complex data into clear, results-oriented strategic recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and engage executive-level leaders without direct reporting authority.
  • Excellent ability to challenge the status quo and formulate recommendations based on business value and facts.
  • Ability to simultaneously advance operational performance objectives and transformation priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills in both languages.
