Assistant Project Manager

I am recruiting an Assistant Project Manager for a second-generation, family-owned heavy civil contractor in southern/central New Hampshire. Around 80 people and growing fast, from six figures in 2019 to roughly $20 million this year. That curve is not luck. That is great leadership.

This is a real APM seat, not a paper-pushing assistant. You would touch the whole job:

• Buy-out and manage the subs and vendors: bid the work, make the call on scope and price, then keep them on schedule through submittals and delivery.
• Own the budget and the schedule: turn the estimate into a working budget, code the costs, build the schedule, and price the change orders as the job moves.
• Run the flow between field, office, and owner: RFIs, submittals, drawing updates, and boots in the field when the crew needs you.

You'll report to a PM and have a straight line to the GM - no five layers between you and the people making the calls. Leadership will see you every day.

Here is the part that matters. The GM built his career inside a larger contractor. He sat in a corporate seat but wanted more access and responsibility, to grow his own career and the business around him. And he's done just that. It's why they have grown so fast. He is visible, mentors his team, and encourages them to grow with him. Your boss decides your stress level, and this one is worth your time.

Projects include sitework and large concrete buildings, with a focus on water/wastewater treatment plants and pump stations across NH, MA, and southern Maine. They have a real backlog of projects you will be able to point to in twenty years.

One great thing about growing your career here is that NH has no broad-based income tax and no general sales tax, so you get to keep more of your paycheck. Living in southern NH is cheaper than in Massachusetts, but you're within reach of Concord, Manchester, and Boston.

We're looking for someone with a take-charge attitude with 3 to 5 years in civil construction, ideally with a CM or Civil degree. Experience with pump stations and water/wastewater treatment plants is highly desirable. But we are open to anybody who has worked with pharma, chemicals, process or anything with a high Mechanical component.

Comp runs $80,000 to $100,000, plus benefits, paid vacation, and 401(k).
