Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Concrete Form Carpenter to join our growing construction team. This full-time position requires a dedicated professional with extensive knowledge in concrete carpentry, form setting, and bridge construction. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety standards while working on diverse commercial and infrastructure projects.
As a Concrete Form Carpenter, you will play a critical role in the construction process by building, installing, and dismantling the temporary structures that shape concrete into its final form. Your expertise will directly impact the quality, structural integrity, and aesthetic appearance of our concrete construction projects, including bridges, buildings, foundations, and other infrastructure elements.
Primary Responsibilities
Form Construction and Installation
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine formwork requirements for concrete structures
- Construct wooden and metal forms according to precise measurements and specifications for walls, columns, footings, slabs, and bridge components
- Build custom formwork for complex architectural features and specialized concrete applications
- Install, align, and secure forms using braces, ties, bolts, and other fastening systems to ensure structural stability
- Verify that forms are level, plumb, and properly positioned using surveying equipment, levels, and measuring tools
- Apply form release agents to prevent concrete adhesion and facilitate easy removal
Bridge Construction Expertise
- Construct specialized formwork for bridge decks, piers, abutments, and support structures
- Install falsework and scaffolding systems to support bridge formwork at elevated heights
- Work with engineered forming systems specific to bridge construction, including traveling forms and form travelers
- Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure formwork meets load-bearing requirements and safety specifications
- Adapt to working at various heights and in challenging environmental conditions typical of bridge construction sites
