We are now looking for a Senior Marine Engineer to help shape the future of our methane-powered fleet.
Location:
- Phase 1: Copenhagen, Denmark (ca. 15 months).
- Phase 2: Shipyard Site, South Korea/ China (ca. 15 months).
About the role
We are seeking a seasoned maritime professional to provide operational input into the design and construction of next-generation vessels. This role is pivotal in shaping the long-term reliability, safety, and cost-efficiency of our fleet, with direct influence over vessel lifecycle performance. The ideal candidate will bring deep familiarity with Maersk vessel design philosophy, a sharp understanding of market trends, and the ability to collaborate across technical disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
Design Phase (Copenhagen):
- Collaborate with naval architecture, electrical, and machinery specialists to integrate operational insights into vessel specifications.
- Review and refine building specifications and general arrangement plans.
- Participate in plan approval processes, ensuring alignment with operational best practices.
- Evaluate design proposals for safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Construction Phase (South Korea/ China):
- Act as operational liaison at the shipyard, overseeing build execution and ensuring design intent is preserved.
- Provide on-site feedback to ensure operational practicality and long-term maintainability.
- Support commissioning and early-stage testing with a focus on operational readiness.
- Document lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement for future newbuilds.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in vessel operations
- Strong knowledge of Maersk design standards and operational philosophy.
- Familiarity with IMO, EU, and class regulations affecting vessel design and operation.
- Ability to synthesize operational needs into technical specifications.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Willingness to relocate for extended periods (Copenhagen and South Korea).
- Permission to live and work in Denmark without visa sponsorship
- Chief engineer or Second engineer from the Maersk Fleet
