Job Description

Job Summary: The Manager of Merchandising Taxonomy & Attribution is the primary custodian of enterprise SKU and vendor data integrity and domain policy. Leading a team of Data Domain Governance Leads and Data Audit Specialists, you are responsible for the policy enforcement and rigorous maintenance of the product hierarchy, attribute framework, and digital assets. This role ensures that all SKU, category, and vendor data is governed by clear standards and validated for accuracy, enabling a seamless downstream data syndication across all retail, professional, and e-commerce channels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Lead a dual-function team of Domain Governance Leads (policy/standards) and Data Audit Specialists (execution/validation) to maintain a gold standard for enterprise SKU and vendor data.

  • Domain Policy Enforcement: Support and enforce clear data governance policies for SKU and vendor domains, ensuring all new and existing data meets strict enterprise requirements.

  • Rigorous Data Auditing: Oversee comprehensive audit programs to validate the accuracy of product attributes and the integrity of digital asset associations (images, videos, etc.).  Ensure data syndicates properly downstream across all systems and sales channels.

  • Hierarchy Management: Maintain and evolve the merchandising product hierarchy and category structures to align with Merchandising strategies.

  • Vendor Data Governance: Partner with Supplier Services to ensure vendor-provided data and assets are compliant with internal standards before entering the production ecosystem.

  • Continuous Improvement: Use audit results to identify systemic data defects and partner with appropriate technology teams to implement root-cause fixes and workflow enhancements.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in enforcing data policies and managing complex data audit cycles in a high-volume retail environment.

  • Understanding how master data feeds into downstream channels (PIM, DAM, E-commerce) and the impact of data quality on those systems.

  • Ability to lead a team with varying levels of specialization, from policy-driven domain leads to detail-oriented audit specialists.

  • Expertise in managing product hierarchies that support merchandising categorization.

Certifications, Experience, and Education:

  • Certifications: None; CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) or DGSP (Data Governance Stewardship Professional) is highly preferred.

  • Experience: 5+ years in Data Governance, MDM, or Taxonomy Management; 2+ years of experience leading a team of specialists or leads.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Management, Business Administration, or a related field; OR relevant work-related experience.

Location & Work Availability:

This position is Hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote), based at our corporate headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina.
