Commercial Lines Production Binding Underwriter
Job Summary
Seeking experienced and driven Commercial Lines Production Binding Underwriters to join a growing team. This role is focused on new business production and offers an exciting opportunity to build and grow your own book of business. Ideal candidates will have strong marketing capabilities, proven sales ability, and the ambition to establish and expand their portfolio.
Compensation Package
- Base Salary: $80,000 – $115,000 (potential to reach $125,000+ for candidates with a significant book of business and strong relationships).
- Bonus Structure: Commission eligibility begins once revenue generation reaches 2x the base salary and covers support staff costs.

Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and grow a book of business.
- Manage agency relationships and serve as the primary client contact.
- Develop and execute a marketing plan to increase new and renewal business.
- Rate, quote, and bind risks to determine acceptability, coverage, and pricing for both new and renewal business.
- Submit underwriting referrals to company brokerage facilities and management.
- Monitor key performance metrics and implement corrective actions to improve new business hit rates, renewal retention, premium growth, and loss ratios.
- Lead, train, and develop Assistant and Associate Underwriters or Brokers.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in commercial lines underwriting or brokerage, with excess & surplus experience preferred.
- Skills:
- Demonstrated proficiency in sales and marketing.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Certifications: Insurance license required (or willingness to obtain, with costs covered). CPCU, CIC, or comparable designations preferred.
- Additional Attributes: Interest in continued education and professional development.
