Job Summary
The Mechanical Systems Manager is responsible for leading the mechanical engineering function within Facilities Engineering, ensuring reliable, efficient, and compliant operation of all mechanical infrastructure supporting production and R&D.
This role oversees the design, operation, maintenance strategy, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems (e.g., HVAC, process utilities, and water systems), while managing engineering staff and driving project execution to support business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Systems Ownership
- Lead end-to-end engineering responsibility for site mechanical systems, including HVAC, process water, utilities, exhaust systems, and safety-related mechanical infrastructure
- Ensure high availability and reliability of systems supporting manufacturing operations
- Drive system performance monitoring and continuous improvement
Engineering & Design
- Support design reviews, engineering standards, and technical decision-making
- Perform capacity planning and long-term infrastructure planning
- Ensure compliance with international standards and internal engineering policies
- Drive energy efficiency and system optimization initiatives
Project Management
- Manage mechanical engineering aspects of facilities projects from concept to execution
- Ensure delivery within scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders
Operations & Reliability (Sustain)
- Ensure system reliability through preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implementation of corrective actions
- Define and implement engineering processes to improve system stability
People Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers and technical staff
- Set goals, monitor performance, and support professional development
- Support hiring, onboarding, and retention of engineering talent
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Production, R&D, Maintenance, Quality, and EHS teams
- Provide engineering support to internal customers across the organization
- Drive alignment between engineering and operational needs
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all activities comply with EHS standards and safety regulations
- Integrate safety considerations into system design and operation
- Maintain high engineering quality standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering \- Must
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering in Facilities or industrial environment.
- Experience managing engineering teams - Must
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems such as HVAC, Clean Room, water systems, and process utilities
- Experience in semiconductor / cleanroom / high-tech manufacturing environment – strong advantage
