We are seeking a Senior/Staff AI Engineer to join the AI Engineering team within SMAI. In this role, you will develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise AI platforms and shared capabilities that enable AI solutions across Micron. You will collaborate with solution delivery teams, innovation teams, and business stakeholders to accelerate AI solution development and strengthen Micron's AI ecosystem.

The successful candidate will contribute to AI platforms and services including GenieLLM, GenieLab, OpenCode, Omelek (O2), and other enterprise AI capabilities supporting innovation across Micron.

## Responsibilities

### AI Platform Engineering

• Develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise AI platforms and shared services.
• Design and implement reusable AI capabilities, integrations, frameworks, and accelerators that can be leveraged across multiple teams.
• Contribute to platform architecture, reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence.
• Evaluate and adopt emerging AI technologies to improve platform capabilities and user experience.
• Support development and maintenance of platform capabilities utilizing AI, cloud, and developer productivity technologies.

### Solution Enablement

• Partner with solution delivery teams to enable successful development and deployment of AI-powered solutions.
• Develop reusable patterns, best practices, and technical guidance that accelerate AI solution delivery.
• Support integration of shared AI platform capabilities into business solutions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for applying AI technologies to business challenges.

### Platform Operations & Governance

• Maintain platform health, availability, performance, and service quality.
• Troubleshoot platform-related issues and drive root cause resolution.
• Support AI governance, security, privacy, and responsible AI practices.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge resources.

### Collaboration & Innovation

• Partner with SMAI Innovation to evaluate emerging AI technologies, prototypes, and solution concepts.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to align platform capabilities with business needs.
• Contribute to platform roadmaps, architecture standards, and engineering best practices.
• Promote knowledge sharing and technical excellence across the organization.

## Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience developing, maintaining, or supporting enterprise applications, platforms, or technology solutions.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with GitHub, source control, and collaborative development practices.
• Familiarity with APIs, system integrations, and modern application development concepts.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a global and cross-functional environment.

## Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Generative AI technologies, Large Language Models (LLMs), and AI-powered applications.
• Hands-on experience with Open WebUI, OpenCode, MCP-based integrations, AI agents, or similar AI ecosystems.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services such as Vertex AI, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Google Cloud Storage (GCS), AlloyDB, and BigQuery.
• Experience developing or maintaining web applications using Angular.
• Experience with GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation tools such as Octopus Deploy.
• Familiarity with Backstage or similar developer portal technologies.
• Understanding of prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agents, MCP, and AI orchestration concepts.
• Experience developing, maintaining, or enhancing shared platforms, reusable services, and APIs.
• Knowledge of AI governance, security, privacy, compliance, and responsible AI practices.
• Experience with .NET / ASP.NET technologies is a plus.
• Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to learn and adopt emerging AI technologies.
