Description
Role Summary
This is an exciting time to join the Anthropologie Brand Voice team. As a center of excellence, this team executes all creative copy across all Anthropologie brands – Anthropologie, Anthropologie Home, Anthropologie Weddings, and Terrain. We have an opportunity to create a codified naming architecture across all that matches both best practices in the industry, and how we work. This will be a naming and systems role, as well as an executional role—i.e. both creative and strategic. The job is to not only deliver on naming projects as they cross our desk, but also to audit how they currently happen and recommend improvements, building the frameworks, language, and guidelines for teams to use long-term.The right candidate understands how naming creates brand identity and builds recognition. You’ve named and written for large collections as well as individual products, managing deliverables across the product lifecycle including site content (PDP), packaging, and all associated marketing content. You’ve built systems for cross-functional use, by way of guidelines, decks, indexes, rubrics, and likely even AI agents. Ideally, you have experience or deep interest in fashion, home and lifestyle, and are well-versed in e-comm, PDP, and UX best practices. Finally, you’re comfortable collaborating with multiple teams and functions across the business.
Role Responsibilities
- Interface with cross-functional teams to audit how product and collection naming happens today across all four divisions — Anthropologie, Anthropologie Home, Terrain, and/Weddings — with a specific focus on fashion and home
- Codify the linguistic guidelines per category and class within each division, i.e. the references and working rules anyone in the company can understand and apply
- Name branded things as part of the engagement: new fragrances, fabric/textile collections, product franchises, etc. to pressure-test each framework against real deliverables
- Create category and product-specific style guides and indexes in partnership with Brand Voice for product and site teams to execute against for PDP, print, and digital executions
- Partner with Creative, Buying, Legal, and Operations to document improved process and milestones
- Create executive-ready decks and present findings and recommendations to leaders
- Bring a point of view and expertise. Make a case for what each division's naming should stand for, and defend it to stakeholders
Role Qualifications
- 8+ years in naming, verbal identity, or brand strategy — agency or in-house. Backgrounds like Naming Strategist, Director/Manager of Naming & Verbal Identity, or Senior Copy Manager with a naming specialty are the right fit.
- Direct experience building naming systems for multiple, distinct sub-brands or categories under one parent brand — not just naming individual products one at a time.
- Comfort producing a tangible system of artifacts and process, and the buy-in along the way
- Experience in change management across cross-functional teams in a retail environment
