The Grant Administrator II, under general supervision, provides support for processing and submitting grant proposals that that comply with sponsor guidelines and Texas A&M University System and Tarleton member policies. Coordinates with sponsors to address questions to ensure accurate and timely proposal submissions.
Position is in-office located on the Stephenville main campus with work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate. Serves as Campus Security Authority (CSA).
Responsibilities:
- Assists faculty and staff with grant and contract proposal preparation, workload allocations, internal review and approval routing, and submission to funding sponsors to meet established deadlines.
- Reviews proposal materials for completeness and alignment with sponsor requirements and applicable Texas A&M University System and Tarleton State University policies and procedures.
- Assists faculty with proposal budget development, cost clarification, and supporting documentation; coordinates regularly with post-award financial specialists to support a smooth transition from proposal submission to award administration.
- Tracks proposal submissions, completes applicable pre-award and post-award follow-up activities, maintains office productivity data, and collects, maintains, and updates required records.
- Communicates research compliance requirements to principal investigators and assists with obtaining required information and documentation.
- Serves as a liaison among faculty and staff, sponsors, Texas A&M University Sponsored Research Services, and post-award personnel to address questions and improve service to investigators.
- Facilitates the administrative transition of externally funded awards by coordinating among the investigator, sponsor, and post-award financial specialist.
- Develops, supports, and leads professional development sessions for faculty and staff on topics related to external funding, proposal development, and research administration.
- Supports marketing and promotion of initiatives within the Division of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development (RIED), including maintaining Pre-Award webpages and coordinating content for research magazines, brochures, and related publications.
- Maintains databases, electronic files, and ongoing pre-award submission tracking systems.
- Provides training and process guidance to RIED Pre-Award staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned based on the operational needs of the Division of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five years of related experience in contract and grant administration in a University or state agency setting or three years’ experience as a Grants Administrator I in the TAMU System
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with faculty, staff, sponsors, and other stakeholders.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Salary Range:
The target base annual salary range is $49,000 up to $53,900 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
