The role provides advanced technical escalation support, develops local L1 capability and eliminates recurring failures through structured root cause analysis and sustainable corrective action. The position also secures and standardizes critical technical knowledge through training, documentation and CMMS-enabled knowledge and spare-parts management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting for mechanical systems, pneumatics, drives, conveyors, filling equipment, sensors, motors, control panels, PLC/HMI systems and industrial networks.
  • Lead structured root cause investigations using methods such as 5 Why, fishbone, PDCA and the 6M framework: People, Machine, Method, Material, Measurement and Environment.
  • Define corrective and preventive actions, assign clear ownership, verify effectiveness and prevent recurrence at other relevant sites.
  • Coach and train local L1 engineers and maintenance teams through case reviews, workshops, troubleshooting standards and practical on-the-job learning.
  • Define and continuously improve the L1-to-L2 escalation process, including minimum diagnostic data, safety criteria, response expectations and case documentation.
  • Develop and maintain troubleshooting guides, standard work, failure histories, machine documentation, BOMs and reusable solutions in the CMMS or designated knowledge platform.
  • Improve spare-parts transparency by supporting accurate parts identification, equipment BOMs and visibility of available inventory across sites, including intercompany sourcing where appropriate.
  • Coordinate escalated cases with OEMs, system integrators, external specialists, OT, Engineering, Maintenance, Procurement, QESH and site leadership.
  • Monitor relevant service and reliability KPIs and recommend technical standards, upgrades, training priorities and systemic reliability improvements.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • A strong technical vocational background combined with substantial relevant industrial experience may be considered as an alternative qualification.

Additional Knowledge / Additional Training:

  • Mandatory: strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capability, structured problem solving, technical coaching ability, professional English and willingness to travel internationally.
  • Preferred: experience with filling lines, beverage, food, packaging or other high-volume automated manufacturing environments; CMMS, BOM and spare-parts processes; multi-site remote support; OEM and supplier coordination.
  • Development potential: advanced OT/PLC diagnostics, industrial networks, filling-line subject matter expertise, global CMMS standards and advanced reliability methods.

Professional Experience:

  • Proven experience troubleshooting complex automated manufacturing equipment in an industrial production environment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting experience, including conveyors, drives, pneumatics, filling equipment and machine assemblies.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting experience, including motors, sensors, control panels, electrical drawings and safe fault-finding practices.
  • Demonstrated experience leading root cause investigations and implementing sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
  • Experience coaching technicians or engineers and transferring technical knowledge.
  • Experience with remote technical support across multiple sites is preferred.
  • Exposure to PLC/HMI-controlled equipment, industrial networks and OT environments is preferred; willingness to develop deeper expertise is required.

Competencies

  • Strong hands-on diagnostic capability and a structured, fact-based approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to distinguish between immediate containment, root cause and permanent corrective action.
  • Coaching mindset focused on enabling local teams and reducing dependency on centralized support.
  • Ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to different technical experience levels and cultures.
  • High ownership and sound prioritization during critical production incidents.
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills across sites, functions, suppliers and leadership without direct authority.
  • Disciplined documentation, knowledge sharing and follow-through on effectiveness checks.
  • Safety, quality, cybersecurity and change-control mindset.

IT and Language Skills

  • German or Polish language skills are an advantage.
