The Position:
AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Developer (DevOps)-Senior to support Battlespace Modeling & Simulation. The salary range of this position is $170,200.00 - $197,300.00 and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

Work Arrangement:

Position Background:
The Simulation Support Branch (SSB) supports the development, integration, and testing of the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) Technical Baseline (JTB) product suite. The software products comprising the JTB support modeling and simulation (M&S) environments; trainer systems; test and evaluation (T&E); analysis; live, virtual and constructive (LVC); research and development (R&D) activities for DoD agencies and their international partners. All products are government owned, developed and managed.
A typical day as a Software Developer (DevOps)-Senior may include:
- Supports the DevOps Team Lead by developing software for an advanced synthetic training environment
- Integrates software into flight simulators to support pilot training against potential threats
- Supports software development, integration, and distribution
- Directs team personnel in day-to-day tasking and contributes to expectation management for team deliverables
- Ensures customer/stakeholder satisfaction and coordinates with DevOps Team Lead to manage leadership expectations and report all potential risks
- Communicates project status and team needs to the DevOps Team Lead and ensures schedules and requirements are met
- Contributes to documentation, briefs, reports, and helps answer data calls
- Implements new and/or upgrades existing automated build services that support the development process on both Windows and Linux systems
- Scales up capacity for and utilization of automated building and testing
- Facilitates/Grows the amount of automated testing used by our team
- Monitors, maintains, and reports on the status of automated build and test services
- Develops and integrates tools as needed to improve developer efficiency
- Promotes best practices and technologies to the team and to team leadership
- Collaborates with the IT team to maintain a strong security posture on the systems
Must-haves:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering: Degrees in Engineering, Math, and Physics with 10 years of software build and scripting experience may qualify
- Degree obtained from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
- 10 years of experience as a Software, IT, or Systems Engineer with experience building and maintaining automated software development environments
- Project Management experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with configuration management systems (Git)
- Proficiency with integration tools (Jenkins, Bitbucket, and/or GitLab CI)
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash and/or Python)
- Minimum clearance required to apply (candidates who do not currently hold the required clearance will not be considered): DoD Secret Clearance
- Current clearance required upon onboarding: DoD Top Secret Clearance
- Additional Accesses: The ability to obtain and maintain the DoD security clearance eligibility and/or additional security access requirements necessary to perform the duties of the position, as required by the contract. U.S. Citizenship is required for all clearances.
Desired Skills:
- Strong C++ and/or Qt development skills
- Strong judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication, collaboration, and time management skills
- Current understanding of how "DevOps" is transforming traditional software development
- Familiarity with build systems (Cmake, Make, and Visual Studio)
- The ability to read, understand, compile, and debug C++ applications on Windows and Linux systems
- Experience with flight simulation, modeling for simulation, and graphics programming
- Understanding of distributed computing and related architectures
- Experience with container technology (Docker and Podman)
- Experience with infrastructure management tools (Ansible and Puppet)

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:
The physical environment for this position requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday. Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.
The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site or near the work site. On rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.
