Get started on an exciting career at Element!
Element employees make a difference in the lives of others every day. We are re-defining the fleet management industry to be people first, then business – delivering on our promise of a superior client experience. This takes hard work and innovation, and we need more like-minded people on our team.
Lead financial reporting, strengthen controls, and develop the accounting team supporting our North American lease portfolio.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Accurate accounting helps Element make informed decisions and maintain confidence in its financial reporting. As Accounting Manager, you will lead the accounting activities supporting Element’s North American operational lease portfolio, overseeing financial close, reporting, and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
You will guide a team of four, strengthen financial controls, and partner with colleagues across Finance and the business as new initiatives and operational changes create accounting questions. This is an opportunity to combine hands-on technical judgement with people leadership and practical process improvements.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
- Oversee the monthly financial close, including review and approval of journal entries, resolution of accounting issues, and delivery of accurate, timely reporting.
- Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations, address reconciling items, and maintain compliance with internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
- Analyze month-end, quarter-end, and year-end results, prepare variance analysis, and provide management with meaningful financial insights.
- Partner with cross-functional teams on new products, business initiatives, and operational changes to assess accounting implications and appropriate financial reporting treatment.
- Improve accounting processes through automation, stronger reconciliations, reporting enhancements, standardized practices, and technology solutions.
YOU SHOULD CONSIDER THIS ROLE IF:
You combine accounting and financial reporting expertise with the judgement and leadership skills to support a high-performing team.
- You have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- You bring progressive experience in accounting and financial reporting, including previous experience leading or supervising accounting professionals.
- You have strong knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and financial reporting principles.
- You have experience managing month-end close processes and balance sheet reconciliations.
- You have advanced Microsoft Excel skills, strong analytical judgement, and the ability to communicate effectively across teams.
Preferred experience includes a master’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline; public accounting experience; experience in financial services, leasing, fleet management, or a regulated financial environment; and experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, financial reporting tools, SQL, Power BI, or similar analytical platforms, including SAP, Snowflake, and BlackLine.
HOW YOU WILL LEAD
- Lead, coach, and develop four accounting team members through performance management, technical guidance, workload prioritization, and employee development.
- Set clear priorities, support continuity of accounting operations, and collaborate with Finance, Operations, Product, Technology, and other stakeholders to address accounting considerations.
YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TELL US
- How you have led an accurate, timely financial close and resolved complex accounting issues under reporting deadlines.
- How you have strengthened balance sheet reconciliations, controls, or audit readiness while maintaining reporting quality.
- About a process improvement or automation initiative you delivered and the operational results it achieved.
- How you assessed accounting implications of a new business initiative or operational change and influenced an appropriate approach.
- How you coached and developed accounting professionals while balancing priorities and team performance.
