Job Description

Position Description

The Vice President of Corporate Development will lead Graham Healthcare Group's inorganic growth strategy, with responsibility for sourcing and executing acquisitions, health system joint ventures, and other strategic partnerships across GHG's home health, hospice, and related healthcare businesses.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role with the opportunity to build GHG's M&A and business development engine from the ground up. The Vice President will turn strategic priorities into a high-quality pipeline of opportunities, with a particular focus on strengthening existing markets, building market density, selectively expanding into attractive new markets, and developing long-term health system partnerships.

This leader will be equally comfortable building relationships and building deals. The Vice President will develop direct relationships with owners, founders, operators, health system executives, investment bankers, brokers, and other intermediaries to generate proprietary opportunities and ensure GHG is well positioned in competitive processes.

The Vice President will lead transactions from initial outreach through close—including target evaluation, valuation, financial analysis, LOI development, diligence, structuring, negotiation, and executive recommendations. Working closely with the CFO, CEO, and operating leadership, this leader will bring both commercial judgment and transaction discipline to every opportunity.

Backed by Graham Holdings Company's long-term ownership philosophy, GHG can take a

long-term view of growth and partnerships. The Vice President will bring the commercial instinct to pursue compelling opportunities and the judgment to ensure each investment strengthens the platform for the long term.

This is a builder, relationship-builder, and dealmaker role. The successful candidate will establish a differentiated network, create proprietary opportunities, and build the M&A capabilities that can compound over time—while delivering high-quality transactions along the way.

Candidate Responsibilities

  • Build a Proactive M&A Platform by establishing the processes, governance, reporting, and operating cadence needed to shift Graham from primarily reactive deal participation to a proactive, relationship-driven sourcing model. Early success will be defined by building the program and its foundation—not solely by closed transactions.
  • Develop and Own the Deal Pipeline by translating enterprise growth priorities into actionable target lists, maintaining a disciplined pipeline, prioritizing inbound and outbound opportunities, and aligning deal pace with organizational capacity and strategic priorities.
  • Source Proprietary Opportunities by spending meaningful time in priority markets, building firsthand market knowledge, and developing multi-year relationships with founders, owners, operators, health system executives, and potential partners. Identify opportunities that can strengthen existing markets, build density, and support GHG's broader growth strategy.
  • Develop Health System Partnerships by building relationships with health system executives and identifying opportunities for joint ventures and other strategic partnerships. Understand the priorities of both organizations, help develop compelling partnership structures, and advance opportunities from initial relationship through agreement and close.
  • Manage Intermediary Relationships by building credibility with investment bankers, brokers, and advisors; ensuring Graham is appropriately positioned in competitive processes; and maintaining a strong, responsive intermediary network. Larger transactions are expected to come primarily through intermediaries, while the Vice President manages Graham’s position and participation in those processes.
  • Lead Deal Execution End-to-End by overseeing opportunity evaluation, valuation and pro forma analysis, transaction structuring, LOI development, diligence workstreams, negotiation, and the path to closing. Serve as the central transaction leader, coordinating internal and external stakeholders and maintaining momentum throughout the process.
  • Partner on Growth Strategy by providing market intelligence and transaction insight that inform Graham's geographic expansion, market-density, tuck-in acquisition, and joint-venture strategies. Enterprise leadership will retain responsibility for the highest-level strategic decisions regarding where and why Graham enters markets.
  • Drive High-Quality Decision-Making by clearly identifying strategic fit, risks, diligence questions, and long-term value creation potential; engaging local operating leaders throughout diligence; and making recommendations grounded in the quality and durability of the opportunity.
  • Build for Long-Term Ownership by evaluating opportunities through Graham's permanent-capital mindset—prioritizing durable assets, strong strategic fit, and long-term value creation rather than pursuing deals simply to maximize transaction volume.
  • Serve as a Hands-On Builder by operating as the first dedicated M&A resource, taking on both senior external relationship responsibilities and the analytical, organizational, and execution work required to build the function.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Significant transaction experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or a related healthcare M&A environment.
  • Demonstrated success sourcing, evaluating, structuring, negotiating, and closing acquisitions, joint ventures, or strategic partnerships.
  • Healthcare transaction experience is required; home health, hospice, post-acute care, healthcare services, or provider-services experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience developing proprietary deal flow and cultivating long-term relationships with founders, owners, operators, health system executives, investment bankers, brokers, and other intermediaries.
  • Experience with health system joint ventures, strategic partnerships, affiliations, or other provider-health system arrangements is highly desirable.
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation, diligence, transaction structuring, negotiation, and transaction-management capabilities.
  • Strong commercial orientation and demonstrated ability to translate market intelligence and relationships into actionable acquisition and partnership opportunities.
  • Ability to evaluate opportunities through both a strategic and financial lens, with sound judgment around strategic fit, quality, risk, valuation, and long-term value creation.
  • Comfort operating in a hands-on, build-from-scratch environment that requires both senior-level relationship development and detailed transaction execution.
  • Strong executive presence, communication skills, emotional intelligence, and credibility with founders, health system leaders, intermediaries, operating executives, and senior leadership.
  • Collaborative, entrepreneurial leadership style with the ability to influence across corporate and operating teams and build trust with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to develop market knowledge, cultivate relationships, and advance opportunities.

NOTICE:

  • Successful completion of a drug screen prior to employment is part of our background process, which includes medical and recreational marijuana.
  • By supplying your phone number, you agree to receive communication via phone or text.
  • By submitting your application, you are confirming that you are legally authorized to work in the United States.
